Another way to raise revenue for the government to lessen taxing locals
Antiguans and Barbudans abroad want to vote in local elections, even if they are not living on Island or away for college. These kinds of people should be allowed to vote. Students abroad should be able to vote, as they are simply visiting another country to study. While the other (citizens living abroad) would be allowed to vote in local elections, if they meet one or more of the suggested minimal contacts (to Antigua and Barbuda) requirement listed below:
- They have an existing and functioning business locally (you can put other criteria on this by requiring having certain number of local employees or contributing certain amounts to SS, MBS, education taxes, etcetera),
- Donation amount to the country
- Bank account or bank balance at certain level (for specific periods times, yearly deposits locally)
- Home ownership locally
- Recency and or frequency of visits to Antigua and Barbuda
- actual or potential opportunities the person can create based on how well-positioned they are to advance an endeavor (business or charitable)
- and a joke for my fellow bloggers (how many girlfriends they have locally ha ha ha ha, I would not meet this requirement ha ha ha)
- National importance and substantial merit of person or their endeavors
- etcetera
But on a serious note, this is another of my creative ways to bring in additional government revenues and provide means for Antiguans and Barbudans abroad to participate in building they country they love and have a stake in.
Please discuss in detail in the comment section, and if you are available, I would like to meet the requirement 7. I hope this makes you people smile while discussing this serious topic of helping Antigua and Barbuda.
l want direct responses from the Minister Chet Green, Attorney General Benjamin and Prime Minister Brown. I also want direct responses from Former PM Spencer, Leader of the Opposition Minister Pringle, Former Minister Lovell. MP for Bolans (St. Mary’s Parish).
My intent is to make every decent person in Antigua and Barbuda life easier, wealthier and safer. Without wanting a thing in return, I do not want a single vote or s single dollar. I have enough, trust me on this.

Other than a good laugh this is nothing serious to comment on. But what the heck, we need to humor in life.
@From The sideline, so you are saying the CIP is wrong? This is practically identical to selling of citizenship that exist. If CIP is a critical means of attracting revenue, why on earth is this not serious to debate?
This exactly what I speak of when I speak about lack of innovation and incompetence. Raisong taxes on folks, no matter how small must be accepted but other reasonable manners less burdensome and intensive to the average Antiguan should not even be taken seriously or discussed?
Incompetence at its clearest.
I know they probably would not want that from fear of being voted out. It seems most Antiguans and Barbudans abroad are anti-ABLP.
But the idea is analogous to CIP. They are practically the same thing.
More should be done in general to form partnerships with Antiguans and Barbudans living abroad and encourage them to participate in development of the country. E.g. they could build a new wing at a school or adopt a school to help provide needed supplies, invest in startup businesses by young people etc. Be part of the change they wish to see…
