Ongoing Delays in Trial for Medical Student’s Fatal Accident

The court case involving the alleged killing of a medical student in a dangerous driving incident faces ongoing delays, over a year since the event.

Karim Edwards, accused of hitting two American University of Antigua students, including the fatal injury of Kenneth Mathew, had his dangerous driving charge upgraded to causing death.

The Traffic Court, under Magistrate Dexter Wason, experienced its sixth adjournment due to persistent issues.

The committal hearing is now rescheduled for February 22, as the Director of Public Prosecutions’ office reviews the case file.

  1. Trial By Judge ONLY, and not by a Jury Verdict plus a Judge wouldn’t be a surprising, but calculated move.
On another note, will this case go the way of the ANDREA HUGHES case.

  2. As they always say is not WHAT you know but WHO….. this will go to the wayside. Hope they are ready for the lawsuit

  3. No way, no how, should this case be a Judge only verdict one. This should not be allowed, due to the accused driver with links to someone involved in the legal profession (a local Magistrate if I recall).

This particular case stinks, and has a whiff of manipulation about it, and should return to a jury based verdict. Immediately!

The surviving victim and the family of the deceased deserve due process …

  4. There is a saying.Friends in Courts are worth more than money in your pockets.I am wondering if he has any friends close to the Courts. For someone charged with such an offense. That picture above is not doing you any good.

    • Spar Par as you can see from the photo, the Ring on his finger is being proudly displayed. Hyram jesus Abiff do saves!

  5. Nothing will happen in this case, in other words case dismissed. The Ray John case will also be dismissed they both will walk free. Furthermore Ray John will then sue the government. Corruption it it’s best. This is Antigua, welcome

  6. All you medical students should be protesting at the school administrative body to put pressure on the officials in charge of this case. Make the sacrifice of not attending classes for a week to get you point around to the powers that be — If you believe your late classmate deserves justice then do something to help make that happen. Social media warriors won’t work. Stand up with actions not words.
