Source- Real News Antigua: One vehicle was seized and several people were ticketed as a result of a recent stop-and-search operation conducted by law-enforcement officers.

According to reports, several senior officers from the B Division, the Criminal Investigations Department, the Narcotics Department, the Proceeds of Crime Unit, the Traffic Department, the K9 Unit, and the Special Services Unit – in addition to two Antigua and Barbuda
Defence Force officers – conducted multiple exercises within the B Division and its outskirts last Friday, December 8.

The joint operation commenced at 1:30 a.m. and concluded at about 3:15 a.m.

Reports say that 54 vehicles were stopped and searched in the vicinities of Lightfoot and Sir Sydney Walling Highway; Parham corner; the junctions of Collins and Pares Main Roads; Sir. George Walter Highway; Pigotts Main Road; and Whenner Road, but nothing illegal was found.

However, as a result of the exercise, one vehicle was taken to the Government Motor Pool; three people were issued traffic tickets; and four persons who were not in possession of their driver’s license were given instructions to produce the identification at the
nearest police station at specific times and dates.

  1. This is commendable, however please maintain a steady police presence and deal with the people who have fog lamps on at night, only one headlight, colored lights and other infractions that can impair the vision of other drivers on the road and cause accidents. A bulb isn’t expensive.

    • I wonder how many night accidents are caused by inappropriate lights on vehicles. I reckon the numbers are fairly high. I support your call for proper, legal lights on vehicles

    • You cant tell people not to use their fog light. Amd colored lights should be a choice. We buy our vehicles pay to license and insure them and still have so many rules and regulations upon us. What can we really do with our vehicles we spend our money for. Seat belts should be a choice. How can u charge someone for not protecting them selves. Foolishness.

    • Too many restrictions are there on vehicle owners. We should be able to put any colored light we want. If we cant see the road we wouldnt have it in. And u older folks sound very badminded. When a young guy lowers his car he drives slowly so it doesnt scrape and thats a problem cause hes holding up traffic. When he drives fast he is reckless so what we really suppose to do. Our vehicles we spend our money on license and insure them. Then we cant do nuttn of our choice to them. Smh its like slavery

      • @New generation…while owning a vehicle or vehicles is one’s right, this right does not give me, you or anyone else the right(s), to infringe upon another in public spaces.
Driving is not a right, it’s a privilege.
You can do whatever you so desire, on your own private property and even this have limitation(s).

        Ignorance is still bliss!
But too much can fog up one’s ability, to be rational.

  2. Yall need to seize the vehicle of reckless drivers and let them pay a hefty fine to get them from impound

  3. Would like if these police stop having their emergency lights on at night when they aren’t a need for them to be on. Those shits are bright as hell
