Oliver Looby gets 6 ½ years for raping 14-year-old girl

Oliver Looby will be spending six and a half years in jail for having sex with a 14-year-old girl last year.

Having admitted to three counts of having sexual intercourse with a female under the age of sixteen in June 2020, Justice Ann-Marie Smith sentenced him in the High  Court yesterday to spend six and a half years for the first and third count and three years and nine months on the second count.

But the sentences were ordered to run concurrently.

Looby met the schoolgirl in 2019 when he was 52 years of age. He pulled up alongside her when he was walking home from school and they exchanged telephone numbers.

He called her that night and she agreed to meet him the next day and they did.

A few weeks later he asked her to have sexual intercourse and she agreed. On 21st February, 2019 he picked her up after school and took her to an area near the St. John’s Pentecostal Church and had sexual intercourse with her in his vehicle.

Since it was the young girls first time having sex, she started bleeding and the defendant gave her a rag and water which he had in his vehicle to clean herself.

He then took her home and gave her $20.

On the second occasion a month later, Looby picked up the complainant from school and took her to his apartment. There he had sexual intercourse with her in one of the rooms.

This time he gave her $100.

Sometime in February the girls mother noticed that she was on her cellphone quite often, but she believed that she was speaking with school friends.

In May, the mother’s son alerted her to the fact that the complainant was on the phone late at night, so the mother began asking questions.

The complainant told her mother about the defendant and the sexual acts that they were engaged in.

Shortly after, the defendant called, and the mother took the phone and cursed him.

He made no reply and hung up the phone. The mother then scolded her daughter and forbade her from having any further contact with him.

At school, the minor told another 14 -year-old about her interactions with the defendant and that friend encouraged her to report the matter to the police.

She followed her there and made a report on 14th May, 2019.

On June 20, Looby was taken into custody and questioned but he denied having sexual intercourse with the 14-year-old. He, however, admitted picking her up, giving money to her and knowing that she was a school child.

Nevertheless, he was arrested and charged and subsequently granted bail on 5th July, 2019. His bail conditions included that he was not to have any direct or indirect contact with the complainant.

On 20th July, 2019, the complainant missed a call from a strange number. It was a male voice who identified himself as Looby’s cousin. Looby then came on the phone and told her not to say anything in court about what happened between the two of them and he would give her anything she wanted and that he was even willing to pay her mother.

On Wednesday 24th July, the complainant then received a call from the same number and it was the defendant. He told her where to meet him a short distance from her home. He picked her up in his vehicle and he was in a company of another male. He dropped the man off and took her into a bushy area in the vicinity of Runaway beach and Sandals hotel and had sexual intercourse with her in the vehicle.

The man who was in the vehicle that day was a friend of Looby’s who gave a statement to the police confirming that the defendant used his phone on several occasions to contact the complainant who he described as a “young girl”.

He explained that on the 24th July, when the defendant picked up the complainant that she referred to him as Uncle Oliver.

Looby then dropped his male friend off on the road and went in the direction of Runaway Beach and he waited for him about 25minutes but when he failed to return, he started walking.

However, when he got close to Sandals hotel the defendant saw him and he was picked up and they then went to drop off the complainant.

On 12th August, 2019, the complainant made another report concerning the defendant and three days later the police picked her up in the vehicle of the defendant.  He attempted to flee but was apprehended and was taken into custody along with the complainant.

The police also picked up the defendant’s friend who had been in the vehicle on 24th July, 2019.

While the two of them were in custody at the St. John’s Police Station, the defendant told him not to tell the police anything about him and the girl at the beach but his friend responded that he had already done so.

The defendant was interviewed by the police on 16th August. He once again denied having sexual intercourse with the complainant and maintained that she was lying on him.

  1. So what happened to the rasta man that was charged with him and why is he still on the streets roaming tell me this?

  2. Why is this old fart messing around with children? Some say he so ugly no woman will go near him. Hmm? Thank God he got caught and the old pedophile will serve some serious time. Hopefully the judge also ordered him to be casterated. The boys know what to do with pedophiles in Her Majesty’s Guest House. Prison justice isn’t always pretty.

  3. I do hope he’s given a rag for his bleeding hole in 1735. Tired of these old men taking advantage of girls just because they can’t please women 18+.

    • IF he is guilty he must get what is coming to him. Again, IF he is found guilty can you imagine how he’ll be greeted in Her Majesty’s Guest House. I hope he’s not guilty, but IF he is, then woe be unto him. Hopefully he’ll get a fair trail and have the opportunity to explain himself, as will the young lady in question. The court will decide.

    • By the time they’re finished with him, this guy will wish he’s have gotten life in solitary confinement. No pervert shall prosper in that place. What you sow you reap.

  4. Wait Wendel Robinson did not get this case?

The man failed to report a possible crime in progress and the police did not charge him?

He made phone calls to the victim to assist the convict and the police did not charge him?

This is why the police is making Wendel Robinson look so bright, they keep messing up.

  5. If you gen lock up all de man sexing underage girls in Antigua you probably wouldn’t have no bands playing and no supermarket or restaurant open. You think dem girl stoopid he shudda breed she skent

  6. Can someone please explain to me how this slime-ball escaped the maximum sentence? 😳 Our (in)justice system never ceases to amaze me. This man showed scant regard for the law by continuing an elicit sexual relationship with the child after being warned by the court not to interfere with her. Yet still, he’ll be out among us shortly fu trouble smadyelse pickney. Because, rest assured that his sentence will be shortened for his good behaviour in prison

  7. But why she report him and still meet h again? 14 year old have more sense than some 41 year old. She knew what she was doing. The man himself should know nit to trouble school girls. Both to blame.
