“We are elated,” is the way Principal at the Old Road Primary School Ryona Joseph
described the school’s receipt of a laptop and a projector from the Sandals Foundation on
Monday, March 2, 2020.

The student body converged in the school’s auditorium just after 11am as the 14-inch HP
laptop and the Epson projector were officially handed over to the Principal by General Manager
at Sandals Grande Antigua Resort & Spa, Matthew Cornall.

In January, the Sandals Foundation deemed the school winner of the Antigua & Barbuda
arm of its Regional Recycled Art Competition. Grades five and six students specifically
participated in the project.

“It is with indeed pleasure that I, on behalf of the Sandals Foundation, present this laptop
and projector to very deserving students,” Cornall said. “We know they worked tirelessly on the
mural and we are pleased to know that we are helping to further students’ awareness of the
environment.”
The competition required participants reuse waste items such as bottle caps, cans and
plastic bottles to create a mural at their school. The students also had to write a 50-100 word
paragraph which described their artwork.
