Officials Say Football, Basketball Banned During State of Emergency

2

The National Office of Disaster Services (NODS) is warning residents to desist from engaging in sporting activities that are not permitted at this time during the state of emergency.

These activities include basketball and football.

As part of measures instituted by the government to limit the spread of the Covid-19 virus, the playing of both sporting activities remains banned. This is due to the close personal contact involved.

Among the sporting activities that are allowed at this time are golf, swimming and tennis. Walking, jogging and cycling can also be done in an open field or at the side of the road in the company of one other person while observing social distancing.

Residents are being encouraged to follow the guidelines set by the government and avoid any consequences that could result from law enforcement officials.
