Observer radio personality gets $200k bail

Media personality, Janice Samuel was granted bail to the tune of $200,000 dollars in the All Saints Magistrates Court today.

Samuel who co-hosts a program on Observer Radio, was ordered to provide two sureties and pay $50,000 of the bail money to secure her release.

If she satisfies these requirements, the media personality will have to report to Police Headquarters every day until her case comes up for trial.

The woman was recently charged with 14 counts of obtaining money under false pretenses after police alleged she illegally obtained over $100,000 from H2one Ltd in Hodges Bay between March and July this year.

She was reportedly working at the plumbing company as an office assistant at the time of the alleged offences.

Just last week, Samuel received a two-year suspended sentence after admitting to stealing money from Connies Comfort Suite, where she worked as a consultant in 2016.

In 1997, she was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment with hard labour for similar offences.

  1. If a magistrate put you on bail with condition to report to the police headquarters every day is best she leave on the remand.
    If she thinks you will run away out the country best she leave on the remand a give you a speedy trial. Just my opinion.

  3. Let Us pray for Janice this is a DISEASE. She needs Prayer .This is NOT a joke. I cannot believe what I am reading. Hoping that the SNAKEPIT will address this TONIGHT. I believe that too many People listened to Janice for years. Hope that the SNAKEPIT do DUE DILIGENCE.

    • They spoke about it on Saturday. Janice is an accomplished con artist who managed to fool a lot of people…Snake pit did not know and we, the listening public did not know.

  4. SMH!!! It beats me as to why this lady is making such practice, repetitive….. Don’t she learn from her mistakes… Someday she perhaps will realize that the bucket goes to the well everyday but one day the bottom will drop out…. May the good Lord have mercy on her!!!

    Why the police did not release an official picture of her?

    She has been convicted and charged again there is no law preventing such either.

  8. How does someone with a number of previous convictions for serious fraud remain in the public eye as a media personality?

    • Who thief more than politicians and priests?? They are still running around Antigua free!! We pay loyalty to party and color; then to the wrong been done against our nation!! She should be lock up long side everyone of them. Injustice on any level is wrong!!

    • ask SERPENT & KNIGHT. They love her dearly, but apparently not enough to help her pay bail. She was unable to come up with the $$$ so is back in custody.

    • Check the Bloom Cooper and Medical Benefits reports. Also there are other media personnel and senators who are accused or charged with embezzlement that are still ‘in the public’s eye’ as you put it.

  11. How strange that the police has not named nor arrest the co-conspirator. And that reminds me of the case in the USA with Michael Cohen where Trump was the unidentified co-conspirator.
    I really would like to know who this person is and why the police doesn’t see any reason to indict him as well.

  12. Look! again and again and again, this country is proving to be JokeCity. First the leader is a wild card, the opposition leader is a joker and a watchdog movement had a pathological thief as its ‘spokesperson’.
    An evening show should have done COMPLETE background checks. And ‘no’ for the nature of this show, a criminal record cannot be overlooked: ‘Shun the very appearance’ I say.
    Now every barbudan and the ex-ombusperson must be wondering if the fund raising money still intact. To the serpant, being the boss ain’t ‘so easy’ now, is it? Just know now that being tasked with leading a country is HARD, so stop being so critical as this country is full of pathological liars, thiefs and talkers that make managing it not ‘so easy’ also!

  13. The media has quoted the Managing Director, so exactly what the UPP leader is waiting on, an invitation?

    Janice claimed to be a card carrying member of the UPP, and has risen to be an unobjectionable spokes person on behalf of the main opposition party.

    To date there has been no official statement from the UPP party.

  14. This lady is a kleptomaniac. I think the disease in this case is not being taken seriously because of the conviction she displayed on the radio.
