The government has decided that an honorarium of $1,000.00 per month will be paid to the diligent and self-sacrificing nurses who are on the frontline, for as long as this crisis continues.
Just last week, the government had opted to applaud those health-workers who are placed on the frontline in the fight against Coronavirus, including nurses and orderlies, in several ways when this crisis is at an end.
On behalf of the people of Antigua and Barbuda, the government continues to express gratitude to all nurses.

Thank you to all the nurses in the frontline, and thank you to the government for stepping up with some financial support!
Thanks to all the nurses, doctors, ordelies etc who are helping this nation and putting themselves in danger during this covid crisis. May God guide, protect and bless you every second of the day!
I think it should stick!
While the guestrue is good and all for the nurses (in which they richly deserve) they need to remember there are other frontline workers as well. EMT’s, police officers, firefighters ect. These folks here are on the frontlibes as well.
I know the culture here in Antigua is to the hell with the police and firefighters but remember they to are human beings with families to go home to as well.
I will also take this opportunity to say thank you to the doctors, nurses and all the others on the front line especially those who deal directly with these Covid – 19 patients….. Its a major sacrifice you are making, not only for the love of your profession but for the care for humanity & the love for your country… Your families such as your mums, dads, sisters, brothers, aunts & uncles, cousins, niece & nephews cannot be left out of the formula also….. I am sure they have given u their consent and support for you to extend such humanitarian & herculean gesture…. Continue to do the great works and protect yourself. We certainly extend our love and prayers for all of you…. Three cheers for all….. Hip hip hip Hooray!!
What about the doctors?
What is an additional $1000 a month for a short period putting your life at risk at all times. Government Nurses gets paid less than teachers, policemen, and many other government workers. They deserve a permanent Salary increase.
Give them Free Customer Service Training instead. They are being paid monthly for their services so I don’t get the point. You go to the hospital and they treat you like sh*t.
That 1,000 should be given to those affected by the pandemic as it relates to lay offs, etc. Persons who still have to pay rent, and still take care of their children.
Who is really advising you people? SMH
Persons always look for a reason to complain. Right is right. Nurses give unselfishly all the time. What if they get $1,000? Please give us a break.
Ah dem dey one pan da frontlines? Now corona gee dem work fu do? Wen ppl go hospital an haffu wait fu hours wen dem same nurse n doctor ah sid down anna chat and when u go in da room dem ah gee attiude cuz dem haffu tend to u
Nurses and Doctors and Orderlies etc are not the only Frontline workers. There are other workers at the hospital who is applaud for their work the hospital is not runned by nurses and Doctors etc alone, there’s the lab techs, the pharmist and admission(financial Registration) that’s responsible for every patient comes to hospital is accounted for and is located in the ER itself. There’s the clerk’s that assist the doctor’s and nurses. I could go on and on but my point is to remember other essential workers too.
I guess he is taking advice from Harold Lovell after labour supporters cussed Lovell on this medium.
The main actors always get the glory but it will never be possible without the supporting cast and the behind the scenes crew Salute to all the health care workers actively on the frontlines fighting against the sars covid2 world war3,Respect.
