Ongoing road works will result in a one day road closure on a section of  Sir Sydney Walling Highway on the Weekend. Site maps for established diversion routes are attached for your publication.

NOTICE:    Road Closure – Sir Sydney Walling Highway.

Date: Saturday 12th June 2021.       Time: 7 am to 7 pm on

Road work under the Second Road Infrastructure Rehabilitation Project (SEIRP) will result in a road closure along a section of Sir Sydney Walling Highway (SSWH) to facilitate the installation of an APUA Telecom Crossing on Saturday 12th June 2021.

The Crossing will be roughly 60 meters (200 ft.) East of the Roundabout at the junction of Sir Sydney Walling Highway, and Sir George Walter Highway. Site maps have been produced to show the established diversion route for traffic traveling west and East:

Westbound Traffic:

Westbound vehicular traffic on SSWH will be diverted to the left after passing the Police Recreation Grounds, then second right, through to the Roundabout.

Eastbound Traffic:

Vehicular traffic intending to travel Eastwards on SSWH shall exit the roundabout in a Southerly direction and proceed to a Tee junction where a left turn must be made, then exit right, on to the SSWH.

Drivers of heavy vehicles are particularly advised that the diverted route is narrow and it may be in their interest to avoid this diversion and use the Old Parham Road / Sir George Walter junction and pass through Piggott to gain access to the SSWH heading eastwards.

  1. Can someone explain to me why Antigua’s road destruction crews have cut holes across our newly paved highway’s and then patched them ???

This is beyond ridiculous. Couldn’t these road cuts have been made BEFORE the new roads were paved?

    ONLY IN ANTIGUA! 😡
