NOTICE: Barbuda electricity restoration

2

The Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA) Electricity Business Unit is pleased to inform persons seeking to re-construct homes in Barbuda that the dual voltages of 115 and 230 will be supplied by the Authority to each new property.

Contractors are hereby advised to take this into consideration when re-wiring structures to
accommodate the new system.

The introduction of 115 voltage to the previous supply of 230 voltage on the sister isle is in compliance with regional standards outlined by the 2014 National Electrical Code
(NEC).

This will provide more flexibility and convenience to power equipment and appliances, especially
those originating from the US.

Previously, all buildings were supplied with the 230 voltage which would have been adjusted using step-down transformers to power appliances or equipment.
