Residents of Antigua and Barbuda are being advised to get ready for a busy 2024 Atlantic Hurricane Season.

The Antigua and Barbuda Meteorological Service and NODS have issued alerts, expressing worries about an abnormally active season that is expected to bring 23 named storms, 11 hurricanes, and five major hurricanes.

The forecast, presented by Director Dale Destin, attributes the increased activity to warm temperatures in the North Atlantic and changing weather patterns.

NODS Director Sherrod James stressed the importance of being prepared, which includes working together with agencies and community groups, improving infrastructure, and discussing emergency plans to avoid last-minute actions during crises.
