The National Office of Disaster Services (NODS) is prepared for the potential impact of Tropical Storm Ernesto. Director Sherrod James confirmed that key partners, including fire and police search and rescue teams, are ready and have prepositioned themselves for mobilization if needed. The Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) has also been contacted.
Seventeen hurricane shelters, one per district, will be opened across Antigua and Barbuda. Public Relations Officer Midcie Francis reminded residents to bring essential items, including non-perishable food, if they plan to stay at a shelter. Law enforcement will be present to ensure adherence to shelter rules.
