NODS Now Responsible For Coordinating National COVID-19 Response

NODS Director Philmore Mullin

The national effort to coordinate the fight against the Covid-19 Coronavirus will now be channeled through the National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) based at the National Office of Disaster Services (NODS).

Acting on the recommendation of Health Minister Molwyn Joseph, Prime Minister Gaston Browne made the decision to fully activate the NEOC to support the Ministry of Health which is the lead agency in this response.

The activation of the NEOC means that top personnel from several agencies will operate daily from NODS to coordinate the Covid-19 response phase.

These include the Antigua and Barbuda Police Force, the Defence Force, the Fire Department and the Ministry of Health among others. Personnel from other organisations and agencies can be called upon as the need arises.

This will ensure that the resources needed for the Covid-19 response are available and put to the best use possible.

This is the first time the National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) has been activated for a health emergency.

  1. The photo of NODS Director has the old Tsunami public action plan in the background (SEE the water withdrawn – RUN…HEAR the water roar – RUN, etc). They need to update the photo, the new public action plan says “HEAR the old man coughing – S*** your pants and RUN”

  2. Well Lord help us. Anywhere else in the world except under Gaston with the failure displayed in Barbuda after IRMA there is still a Mullin.
