No evidence that Cuba supports state-sponsored terrorism

CMC- Dominica has called on the United States to reverse its “unmerited and unjust listing of Cuba as a state which sponsors terrorism,” with Roseau saying it holds firmly that there is no evidence of state-sponsored terrorism acts being supported by Havana.

“The Commonwealth of Dominica notes with concern the continued inclusion of the Republic of Cuba on the United States State Department State Sponsors of Terrorism list, which identifies governments that actively support violent non-state actors involved in terrorist activities,” the government said in a statement.

Last week, Washington said it had removed Cuba from a short list of countries it alleges are “not cooperating fully” in its fight against terrorism.

A State Department cited the resumption of law enforcement cooperation between Cuba and the US as one the reasons why the previous designation was deemed “no longer appropriate.

“The department determined that the circumstances for Cuba’s certification as a ‘not fully cooperating country’ have changed from 2022 to 2023,” the official said.

Former US President Donald Trump separately designated Cuba a state sponsor of terrorism just prior to leaving office, a jab that Cuba maintains has contributed to a severe economic crisis on the island, and to shortages of food, fuel and medicine.

In its statement, Dominica said that it “firmly holds that there is no evidence of state-sponsored terrorism acts being supported by the Government of Cuba and considers this an arbitrary classification intended to justify the decades-long economic embargo imposed on Cuba by the United States of America.

“Consequently, Dominica calls for the reversal of this unmerited and unjust listing of Cuba as a state which sponsors terrorism.”

Dominica said it was reiterating its call for the normalising of relations with Cuba and the lifting of economic sanctions by the United States for the “enhanced peace, stability and economic growth of the Cuban nation, which has made tremendous contributions to the development and welfare of the Caribbean region particularly in the areas of health, agriculture and education.

“The Commonwealth of Dominica stands in solidarity with Cuba in its condemnation of terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, including acts that qualify as state-sponsored terrorism,” the government added.

  1. It should by now be clear to the entire world that the United States of America answers to NO ONE. They are a law onto themselves. No court nobody can tell them or force them what to do. When they said Iraq has weapons of mass destruction and bombed that country unilaterally killing hundreds of thousands civilians, after it was later on proven to be based on false information, they did not even give an apology. And certainly not compensate Iraq for the devastation they caused the country. People all over the world are advise to live with this reality that America is dominating the world and is the only military force to be recon with. They are the only country that has ever used the atomic bomb on civilians and jet they want to condemn others for crimes against humanity. The only thing one should and can wonder, is how long will the American domination of the world last. With the manner in which they place emphasis on they military capability, it will be a very long time to come. Not so long ago in Europe people were afraid for the Soviet Union and a war that could mean the end of life as we know it. These days, we have seen wars are being fought all over and the former Soviet Union is threatened without fear. Weapons are being send to Ukraine and it is just a matter of time before this will get out of hand. The result of that will be anyone’s imagination. I have lived most of my earthly life in fear of this. However since I know everyone will die one day, I have come to embrace death without fear of it. I just feel very sorry and concerned about the children to come. Of which some are my own. What and how will life be for them when that war breaks out. Because men don’t seem to be living in fear of death any longer. Because if they did, they would not be threatening Russia, whom they know is in possession of lots of nuclear weapons as well. I guess the name of the game is, “I dare you”.
Cuba will remain on the list of America’s terrorism supporting countries until America wants them to and no call out by not any country will ever change that. America Runs Things in this world.
