The Cabinet of Antigua and Barbuda says it received a report from the Minister of Aviation regarding the resignation of the C.E.O. from the Antigua and Barbuda Airport Authority, and the brief stoppage of work which took place last Friday, May 10, 2019.

“Since the event, the Cabinet was advised against further public remarks on account of the threat by the former CEO to sue the ABAA for constructive dismissal,” a brief statement said on Wednesday.

“Hence, the details of the disagreement which led to his suspension, his subsequent resignation, and his resorting to the Courts will await the time when he has submitted his pleadings and the ABAA responds,” it added.

Smith resigned last week after being placed on suspension for one month with pay.

He says this is essence dismissal and that it is related to a “confidential” document that he is being accused of leaking to the Antigua Barbuda Workers Union.

Smith denies the document was confidential.
