Former Barbudan MP Arthur Nibbs expressed gratitude for the decision to name Barbuda’s new international airport in his honor.
The facility, opening on October 3, will be called Burton Nibbs International Airport, recognizing both Nibbs and Sir Eric Burton.

Nibbs himself initially felt the dual naming could diminish his recognition, stating, “If you’re going to honor me, it should match what I’ve done.”
He added that the honor reflects his dedication and hard work over the years.
Meantime, the former MP has called on fellow Barbudans to embrace the change that is taking place on the sister-isle.
Nibbs said in a radio interview that the time has come for Barbuda to chart a future for itself which will help propel the island into a brighter and more enlightened era.
