The man next in line to the British throne, the Prince Charles of Wales arrived in Antigua moments ago to the expected pomp and ceremony.

After disembarking a British Airways commercial flight, Prince Charles was met by Governor General Sir Rodney Williams and Lady Williams as well as Prime Minister Gaston Browne and his wife Maria Browne.

Prince Charles was also introduced to heads of the security forces and a handful of members of the cabinet before inspecting a guard of honour.

His Royal Highness’s visit comes following the widespread devastation in the region caused by Hurricanes Irma and Maria.

During the tour The Prince of Wales will meet members of the local communities and hear about the ways in which they have been recovering since the storms hit the Islands.

While here, The Prince of Wales will be conducting engagements on the island. His Royal Highness will visit Barbuda and The British Virgin Islands on Saturday 18th November. On the final day of the tour, Sunday 19th November, The Prince will conduct engagements in Dominica.

Antigua and Barbuda, The British Virgin Islands and Dominica were all severely affected when Hurricanes Irma and Maria struck in September 2017. The storms caused widespread devastation which led to the displacement of communities.

This is His Royal Highness’s first official visit to Antigua and Barbuda, The British Virgin Islands, and Dominica.

  1. Unlike the Dutch and French in St. Martin, he comes with no goodies. Only platitudes and I suspect a huge cost to the tax payers.

  2. Actually he brought $92 milion dollars worth of goodies to British overseas territories. (Gaston will be happy )
Antigua decided by a majority to be independent 36 years ago. Why do you think the uk still owe you sonething …you wanted to be out on your own ….. ? Digging up the ancient slave issues is not a first world attitude. It’s a thing of the past. It’s ancient history . We all have history…but it’s gone and past stop dwelling on things that we cannot change. . You want independence so move yourselves into the 21st centuary and stop begging and moaning and use the wonderful assets that you have on island to bring in, and generate tourism. Not corruption, murder, suicides , cruelty to animals , rubbish and garbage…polluting the oceans and gun crime ( out of control) along with cheap passports and money laundering .l,, be proud of what you have and showcase it to the world. Change your mindset. Change Antigua .

  3. How about an audit of where the UK taxpayers money is being spent …
For sure I see not a penny of it being spent on Antiguas roads , sanitation , healthcare education or crime prevention ….. or infrastructure. It’s Just crime , corruption and murders are on the increase along with taxi fares rising and a British tourist ( lovely Chris Tester) was shot in the head on Christmas Day last year in beach bar the ‘ Boxer shack ‘ for a few miserable dollars. He’s now blind and brain damaged for life ..his family are devastated . He can’t see or walk or function. He was just a guy who loved Antigua. No one to date has been held accountable. This along with children hanging themselves and cars and buses and trucks including cement wagons driving around flat out killing people and themselves . Smashing into houses. Crashing and burning.
Good luck prince Charles of Wales …I hope you make it home in one piece. We need you back here safe.
