ABEC prepares for Barbuda Council Elections

Discussions are ongoing to re-locate the Barbuda Registration Unit to Barbuda, ahead of preparations for the Barbuda Council Elections, scheduled to take place inMarch 2019.

On Thursday, Members of the Antigua and Barbuda Electoral Commission and Supervisor of Elections, Miss Lorna Simon, met with the Parliamentary Representative for Barbuda, the Hon. Trevor Walker, to discuss existing possibilities of a place to house the unit on the sister isle.

The Barbuda Registration Unit has been operating at the Central Registration Unit, located in the former Peace Corps Building on Factory Road, since the passage of Hurricane Irma which devastated the sister isle in September 2017.

Barbudans are hereby reminded that registration is ongoing at the Central Registration Unit.

The deadline for new registrants to register in order to be eligible to vote in the March 2019 Barbuda Council Elections is January 31st 2019.

  1. Election again! It seem as though Barbara have the most election in the world. Perhaps that’s why nothing gets done because the council keep reshuffling and there is not enough time to implement a sustainable solution.
