A 36-year-old man was found guilty of one count of rape involving his ex-lover on Thursday.
The incident occurred on July 22, 2019, about a month after they broke up following a six-month relationship in 2019.
The victim, a 32-year-old woman, testified that she received a call from the accused on the day of the incident, asking her to meet him for something she believed was related to a loan she had given him.
When they met, he forced her into a rented car, confiscated her phone, and took her to an empty lot in Bendals.
There, he physically assaulted her, accusing her of infidelity before sexually assaulting her against her will.
