Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew made the announcement following his official swearing-in as the Federation’s fourth prime minister.

The swearing-in ceremony was held at Government House on Saturday, Aug. 06. It comes following the successful bid by the newly elected Prime Minister Drew and five other members of the St. Kitts and Nevis Labour Party, who captured six of the eight seats that were contested on St. Kitts in the Aug. 5 Federal Elections.

Prime Minister Drew stated, “I would like to announce that Aug. 08, which is next Monday, be declared a holiday as part of the celebration of the victory of our party.”

The granting of a public holiday following the outcome of the Federal Elections in St. Kitts and Nevis is in keeping with a longstanding tradition.

  1. Congratulations Honourable Dr Terrance Drew on your election win.

St Kitt’s and Nevis has a new leader.

We Antiguans are also hoping for a change of leadership as well. Hopefully, we won’t have to wait too long.

    Anyway, congratulations again sir …

    • And the Prime Minister of St. Kitts strated out on the right foot and not like Gaston declaring a holiday before he was sworn in as Prime Minister.

    • St. Kitts and Nevis did what we in Antigua and Barbuda did in 2014. Back to Labour. Under the leadership of a new and younger energetic leader.

  2. Unlike Lovell the new PMs of Grenada and St Kitts look young and energetic and ready to move the countries forward. When is UPP going to get rid of Lovell and have a viable leader that can actually when his or her seat. Sad.

    • How is it that Peter Wickham, Darren Matthew Ward and the Labourites are so pre-occupied with Lovell’s age?

Lovell must be doing something right for them to be so afraid! Under Lovell, the UPP has been built into a “force”. Guess who say ?

    • @Lovell needs to go. Maybe you are looking at the wrong variable. The variable you should be looking at is that of INCUMBENCY.

The last three elections in the Eastern Caribbean, the INCUMBENT lost. Perhaps it makes you uncomfortable to ponder that variable since if trends hold …… Need I SAY MORE.

      TICK, TOCK, TICK, TOCK

  3. Have you looked at Gaston recently. If you have not please take a look. He looks ten times older than Lovell and he is supposed to be younger.

  4. Lovell is younger than 4 of the ABLP candidates.
Lovell is younger than PMs in St. Vincent, The Bahamas and Trinidad and Tobago
Lovell is the same age as PM is St Lucia.
Lovell’s age is not an issue.
The last 2 US Presidential candidates were 75+
Stop the BS about age people

    • Absolutely correct. The ALP and Gaston using age as a ploy. As you say 4 of them in Cabinet are older than Harold. Such frigging hypocrites.
