PM Browne Unveils Plans for New Investment Projects Benefiting Antiguans and Barbudans
Prime Minister Gaston Browne has announced a series of new investment projects aimed at empowering Antiguans and Barbudans through expanded ownership opportunities in the country’s hospitality sector. Speaking on Pointe FM yesterday, Browne outlined ambitious plans for the development of key coastal areas, including Pensioners Beach, Morris Bay, and Shell Beach, with a focus on enabling citizens to create profitable ventures such as Airbnb properties and condominiums.
Browne highlighted the government’s commitment to fostering broader local ownership in Antigua and Barbuda’s hospitality industry. The initiative includes offering affordable land parcels for development, particularly in sought-after coastal areas. Pensioners Beach, a 12–15-acre site, has already undergone land leveling and demarcation, with applications now open through National Housing. Browne urged residents to seize the opportunity, suggesting the land could be developed into two- or three-bedroom properties, serving both as rental income generators and personal leisure retreats.
“This initiative is about improving the quality of life for our people while empowering them through ownership,” Browne emphasized. He noted that well-managed Airbnb properties have proven to be lucrative, citing positive feedback from visiting diplomats who stayed at locally owned accommodations.
Plans for Morris Bay, a 30-acre project site, include a blend of hospitality and residential opportunities. The area will feature a hotel developed in partnership with private entities, alongside condominiums and smaller lots for Airbnb ventures. Browne assured that half of Morris Bay’s total acreage has been reserved for public use, reinforcing the government’s commitment to balancing private development with public access.
Shell Beach, a 40-acre expanse, is earmarked for 40 one-acre residential lots, with one larger parcel of 3–4 acres available for potential group projects. Browne encouraged local groups to consider developing the larger lot into a boutique condominium or hotel. He emphasized that all the land in this project remains open for purchase, with no predetermined buyers.
“We want Antiguans and Barbudans to take ownership in these developments, creating wealth and sustainable opportunities for themselves and future generations,” Browne stated.
Browne also took the opportunity to respond to critics of the government’s wealth creation strategies. He criticized political opponents for what he described as backward attitudes toward economic development, stating, “Demonizing wealth creation only serves to limit opportunities for our people. Our focus is on empowering citizens and fostering a culture of education and success.”
The government has made clear that these projects are part of a broader effort to address inherited challenges while promoting economic growth and citizen empowerment. Applications for land parcels at Pensioners Beach are now open, with further details on Morris Bay and Shell Beach developments to follow in the coming months.
Antiguans and Barbudans are encouraged to contact government representatives to learn more about these opportunities.

I have submitted my interest for the parcels at Pensioners Beach since I see some potential there as a rental property providing the government builds the infrastructure correctly. Recently, I saw a dozen homes next door to the Dredge Bay development (I believe there are 12 homes there with a swimming pool in the centre) which made me think of how that would look at Pensioners Beach. Time will tell.
These are great opportunities for young adults not just for residential purpose but also greater future investment once done right. Young men and women seize the opportunity given by the government keep political views out of it and think about your future
