CABINET NOTES: The Cabinet has agreed that the next major housing project to be undertaken will be at the top of North Street (known as ‘Mongo Tong’) and parts of Bishopgate Street.
A plan is also afoot to move the Public Works Department from St. John’s and Bishopgate Streets and other government departments to a new government complex, to be constructed at Hospital Hill later this year, and then to build new National Housing homes on the site to be surrendered by the Public Works at St. John’s Street.

Things such as TRAMCAR SERVICES can be added to ease the amount of traffic on the roads to, through and out of this NEW CITY.
Rebuilding St. John’s on a non-existing public sewer system, poor parking, poor infrastructure is similar, to POURING NEW WINE INTO OLD, WORN WINE SKINS. Both the new wine and old skins will be lost.

A few historical facts about the Willoughby Bay Area…
1…It was one of Santa Maria de La Antigua’s first towns named – Bridgetown.
2.There are structures buried along parts of the area, due to destruction by a Tidal🌊Wave/Tsunami. There are several members, of the Freetown, St. Phillips, Newfield area who are still alive (my memmee_lippee 96 year old mother is one them), who’ll tell you about this incident.
3…according to fishermen, it was an area where porpoises would migrate to for breeding.
4…during the ‘cackle/clam’ season, it’s one of or used to be, one of the best area to dig for cackle/clams.
Antigua do need a well thought out, designed, purpose built for the future City.
As a matter of fact, the Sir Viv Cricket Stadium can be upgraded on the exterior/perimeter to house an INDOOR/SHOPPING and Arts Entertainment Center.
The Old Sugar Factory can become a proper National Museum/Artifacts Center.
TUNA, at least we still have to be optimistic, that we as a People can still and must create a Great Nation for generations to come.
