New Bathroom Facility Opened at Yasco Sports Complex

A new bathroom facility has been officially opened at the Yasco Sports Complex, with Sports Minister Daryll Matthew describing the development as the beginning of a broader effort to improve the country’s athletics infrastructure.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, Matthew said the facility represents “the first step in that journey of ensuring that this facility is developed in a manner and full level that can be comfortable and accommodating.”

He noted that the improvement was necessary as the complex continues to host growing numbers of competitions and training sessions, including school meets and national track and field events.

Matthew also pointed to the importance of cooperation between the government, national sports associations and other stakeholders, saying the development of athletics requires a strong partnership among these groups.

The minister urged members of the athletics community to take care of the facility, telling athletes and officials to treat it with pride as the complex continues its gradual redevelopment.

The restroom facility is expected to improve conditions at the complex by providing proper amenities and separating areas for athletes and spectators, as well as for males and females.

  1. @big brother. That facility has been under construction for almost 40 years. It’s great to see that they are finally completed. Let’s hope that they will have a continuous supply of water for flushing. As water is tantamount to keeping a bathroom clean.

  2. It’s full time for Antigua to have a modern track and field facility to bring it in line with other O.E.C.S islands, such as St.Lucia, Grenada and St.kitts

  3. Ribbon cutting ceremony for a toilet in 2026.

An amazing accomplishment a new toilet facility makes headline news.

So there were ministers present, permanent secretary, directors, presidents, parents, teachers and students on hand to witness the opening of a toilet. There were snacks and drinks afterwards to celebrate such a momentous occasion.

The toilet was toured by the dignitaries led by the engineer and the minister. During the tour the engineer flushed a toilet to demonstrate the great achievement.

The keys to the toilet was handed over on national TV to the President.

The president remarked this is a remarkable achievement and he is grateful for the toilet and he will ensure it is put to good use for the benefit of all.

  4. What five years . It stated with Winston Williams under UPP. And ALP decades before promised. So from Williams to now is two decades and millions spent on this bathroom project.

  5. Really. Do you need to tell nega that they need to take care of a bathroom. In that case hire a fulltime cleaner and charge each user club for that expense
Cause history has shown that they will vandalize the facility. They will defecate and not flush or no toilet paper available. You name it. So Mr. Minister please hire a fulltime cleaner to keep it clean

  6. We must give honor and recognition where they are due.
When a man sees his dream come to reality he must feel pretty proud.
In light if this, I strongly recommend that the bathroom be called the WINSTON WILLIAMS public facility.
Additionally I heard a figure being quoted in the news.
    That’s absolutely untrue.
That cost was for finishing touches.
Let us not forget how much was expended towards this under the watchful eyes of Winston Williams.
When you add the two sums it makes the WINSTON WILLIAMS public conve hence the most expensive public facility in the WORLD.
It costs more than one of the building on the hillside.
I wonder when last Winston had a look at them and how he feels about the owner.
It’s a nice session to alm politicians: THOU SHALT NOT STEAL TAX PAYERS MONEY!!!!!!

  7. @Melchesidec ah dat bun U 😀😀😀! I kinda, wanna believe that Rai Benjamin and the other international athletes who visited Antigua with him made Daryl and his crew feel embarassed, so they jumped all kinds of hurdles to get it done.
