New Barbuda Affairs Department Announced

Barbuda is set to gain greater integration into Antigua and Barbuda’s national framework through a new initiative led by Ambassador Clarence Pilgrim, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Trade, and Barbuda Affairs.

Pilgrim announced the creation of a Barbuda Affairs Department to streamline government services and address neglect. He emphasized the Cabinet’s directive to ensure Barbuda’s full integration into national administration.

During discussions, local staff highlighted the need for training to match skills with counterparts in St. John’s. Pilgrim pledged support, including training on the ‘free-balance’ accounting system critical for treasury operations.

Recognizing the value of local insights, Pilgrim encouraged staff input and promised more frequent visits to Barbuda to support the initiative’s success.

  1. It’s about time! Barbudans deserve a functional, local government agency that operates as a modern-day agency on behalf of all residents on Barbuda. The daily poisons that have been fed for decades to the local Antigua/Barbuda population are being dealt with. An antidote has been found. Let the aging Council members continue to feast on their own poison. Their own shelf life, their expiry date is rapidly coming to an end. Time to stand up and refuse their poisonous feed.
