The disappearance of several packages from the Antigua Port Authority has sparked questions and raised concerns.
According to reports, the incident involved a masked intruder who allegedly removed the packages.
The discovery of the incident was made by an on-duty security officer, who promptly contacted the St. John’s Police Station at around 2:45 a.m. on Thursday, June 1st.
Upon receiving the report, police officers, including members of the SSU (Special Services Unit), quickly responded to the Port.
They met with a security officer and the chief of security to gather more information.
The security officer informed them that around 2:38 a.m. that morning, he had observed a slim male, approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall, wearing a black mask, long black pants, and a grey long-sleeved hooded shirt.
The security officer shouted at the intruder, questioning his presence on the compound, to which the masked man reportedly replied, “I came to collect a package.”
The intruder then continued on his way until he disappeared from the security officer’s sight. However, subsequent checks of the compound revealed that a warehouse had been forcibly entered.
It is alleged that the masked intruder gained entry by cutting out a section of the perimeter fence using a sharp tool.
He proceeded to door No. 9 of the warehouse, as captured by surveillance cameras, where he utilized two pieces of lumber to pry open the door.
Multiple packages were then removed from a barrel located in the western section of the warehouse, with allegations suggesting that these packages contained a quantity of drugs, potentially cannabis.
Despite efforts to locate the masked intruder based on his description, the officers were unsuccessful.
This incident is not the first breach of security at the Port, which is meant to be a highly secure facility. In a previous incident reported by REAL News in 2022, intruders broke into a container and removed at least four barrels, subsequently securing the container with a new lock.
Strangely, the police did not report this matter, and since the current incident came to light, there has been no official statement from law enforcement, the Cabinet, or Port officials, despite the offenses being captured on surveillance cameras.
Concerns are arising that this latest breach of Port security may be downplayed or overlooked. REAL News is committed to monitoring and reporting on this developing story, as there are allegations of a major investigation being launched by the Police.

MrTelemaque what is going on here?
Am I reading correctly? did someone go to collect their package after hours jus like how molwyn collected his Rolls Royse on a public holiday ?
Come on any one read this will know that this was an inside work cause one how will the intruder know which door to go and the way he answered the security he was well informed on what þo do where to go mmmmmmm
This mockery to the ISPS code …
He went to collect his drugs, guns and ammunition. He must have inside connection to know exactly where to go for his packages. Does anybody wonder how so many guns on the street?
Something stinks to high heaven. Only one security guard on duty?
So you a tell me with all the time the intruder had on his hand. The security could not call the police. Why after the fact. Something na add up.
What are the reasons. Why the Guards at the main Sea Port are not fully armed? How many Guards are at the Port? Hire more personnel if at all necessary.
So let me try to understand the article. Was it suggesting that a security officer charged with the responsibility of guarding million of dollars of items at the port was not equipped with a fire arm?
