Convicted murderers Isaiah and Kayvin Jerome Benjamin are seeking release after serving 14 years of their 25-year sentences for the 2010 murder of Lyndon Isaac during a robbery at T’s Natural Bamboo Bar.

Edwin Gomez, their accomplice, is serving a 30-year sentence.

Senior Prison Officer Lyndon Russell testified about their rehabilitation, highlighting Isaiah’s work in the bakery and Kayvin’s involvement in the kitchen.

Russell advocated for their release, citing improved behaviour.

Lawyers argued that limited rehabilitation opportunities should not penalize them.

Justice Ann Marie Smith adjourned the hearing to July 23, requesting more detailed testimony from the Superintendent of Prisons.

  1. with all the robbery going on an killing you all want set a murder out of prison why can’t he serve his 25 yrs!!!!
you all should not set murderer out on the street at lease send out his pictures so ppl can be aware

  2. Total bs. Keeo them locked up. We have enough robbers on the streets. They coming back to the same lifestyle.

  3. Wow Paw Patrol! Why are you looking recognition for doing your job??? BE consistent then maybe we can see real change. No need to celebrate on off accomplishments.

  4. NO EARLY RELEASE
YOU DID THE CRIME,SERVE YOUR TIME.THE JUDGE SHOULD HAVE GIVEN YA’LL LIFE IN IN PRISON,IS A LIFE YA’LL TOOK.

  5. And if it goes wrong and backfires on the community, I hope that the Senior Prison Officer Lynden Russell will be HELD to account.

These prisoners well an’ know how to hoodwink do-gooders into releasing them from their heinous crimes, and then come out to do it again. Sheeessh!

Russell may be “book smart”, but streetwise he’s lacking – it seems – in abundance.

However, Brixtonian could be wrong 😉

  6. Lyndon you can not be a real Russell, leave what you’re trying to do for Jesus, he knows what’s on our hearts, don’t be an advocate for criminals they do anything to get out of their situation, don’t put another man’s blood on your hands

  7. Incarceration was never meant to be fun of course but our prison system in Antigua and Barbuda is really hard-core. Budget shortfalls and a punitive philosophy has made our prison very unpleasant and much less likely to rehabilitate anyone.
In recent times we have witnessed explosive growth in an already crowded prison population whilst having no real impact on crime itself which is growing daily.
Our prison system borders on inhumane treatment and is nothing to be proud of and in some instances it is equated to an animal shelter. Though I do not have the data to confirm, I believe that between 20 to 30 percent of the inmates are suffering from some sort of mental illness just by being incarcerated and the general conditions there. I do not know if any psychologist has ever been assigned to the prison in order to access the mental state of the prisoners.
Our prison has struggled over the years to implement any proper program that could really rehabilitate prisoners. There is such a great focus on punishment that its hard to develop any serious and proper rehabilitate program. The yardstick that the prison autjorities are using in order to determine if certain prisoners are rehabilitated perhaps is their way of helping to ease the overcrowding in the lone penal institution but would not really go down well with the family of those whose love ones were killed by the prisoners and who sees it as just a travesty of justice.
Prison authorities much implement a proper and effective rehabilitative program for all prisoners with ways of measuring the success or failure of the program and its overall effect on the prisoners. What they are doing now and calling it rehabilitation really amounts to nothing.

  8. If they doing good in the bakery and kitchen why let them out to go into someone else’s house to search their bed and living rooms, let them do their masters in prison by finishing the other 11 years in the kitchen and backery

  9. Free the killers back into society. They haven’t killed anybody in a while and appear to be good as kitchen staff. They can work at a hotel when they come out. Also, when they come out, they have to watch out for attacks from the victim’s family who may want their own justice.

We have killers already roaming freely around in Antigua. Two (2) more killers on the road won’t be the end of the world. Anybody thinking about murdering someone would see that if you happen to be caught which is a small probability, in 14 years you could be back on the road to continue living.

  10. “Free the killers back into society. They haven’t killed anyone in a while …”

I see that All Saints one and only VILLAGE idiatt is back!!!

Is it any wonder with so many people with the mindset like @ Bulbous that Antigua is in the mess that its in. Lord have mercy …

  11. They should serve out the remainder of there sentences, killers shouldn’t be pardon because they’re doing good in the bakery thats nonsense too many killers roaming the street don’t add two more. I think if you kill someone you should spend the rest of you’re life in Prison.

  12. I wonder if they allow the victims family members to have a say in this release drama. Does anyone care how they feel?
The victim was my cousin, a young able bodied man who died and left 14 children behind and grand children. He was the first born for his mother who is still alive. DOES ANYONE CARE HOW THEY FEEL? SMH
