With utter disregard for the suffering of the citizens of this nation, and in a heartless manner, Prime Minister Gaston Browne has given himself and his Government Ministers a salary increase retroactive to January 2023.
This was done without any legislation or resolution, or statutory instrument tabled in Parliament.
He tried to do this clandestinely. And because he was caught, he is now dishonestly trying to rope in the Opposition MPs, by saying that we too received the increase.
This is a blatant lie.
How could Prime Minister Browne be so heartless?
How could Prime Minister Browne increase Cabinet membersβ salaries before first addressing the needs of Government workers and pensioners, who are struggling to make ends meet under his skyrocketing cost of living?
Salary increases for Parliamentarians must be done in a transparent manner, and should be pegged to those for public servants and pensioners.
It is the people who we serve that should be first in line. Only after public servants and pensioners receive their increases should Parliamentarians be considered, at the same percentage.
Doing this will put an end to Gaston Browne’s current hush-hush and arbitrary manner of granting increases to Parliamentarians.

This Gaston Brown government is so cruel and heartless. Never in the history in this country has any PM being so cruel and ruthless to the populace, NOT VC, NOT LESTER, NOT BALDWIN, BUT GASTON.

Just what those Cabinet Ministers need,more money.Right now,they are getting free everything.When they do travel.The per diem they get is outrageous. Sets of greedy bastards.All of self and nothing for us,the people.
This issue really needs more clarity and ventilation. It is clear that forces within the Finance Ministry are knowingly driving this issue underhand.
Why do you keep trying to throw the technicians at the Ministry of Finance under the bus by suggesting that they are leaking information and driving the process. The memo is clearly widely held having been addressed to PSs and department heads.
