MP Lewis submits Freedom Of Information complaint over government rental deal

MP Richard S. Lewis has submitted a package to the Office of the Information Commissioner following unanswered Freedom of Information requests.

On 22 February 2024, during Prime Minister’s Questions, Mr Lewis asked the Prime Minister for details about the property on Friars Hill Road, which houses the Development Control Authority, the Ministry of Lands and Housing, and the Land Office.

On 2 April 2024, he sent letters under the Freedom of Information Act 2004 to the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Housing, Lands and Urban Renewal, the Ministry of Works, and the West Indies Oil Company, seeking information and documentation on the government’s rental arrangement with the Prime Minister’s son.

None of the agencies provided the information required by law. The Information Commissioner, now in receipt of Mr Lewis’s letter and supporting documents, is expected to rule on the matter.

  1. No matter how much you talk and chat, Gaston and his minions would not hear you because they not playing by the rules.
You can’t join their game. You have to get down and dirty.

How do you expect people to come on picket line with you when the leader will only turn up if somebody else organize the protest?

UPP, you are too safe and coward. Zizi told people this morning to make sure they stay on the right side of the road and they do not cause any problems for the police. And they did just that.
You call that protest? UPP you not ready yet.
Your leader is compromised and you all are too damn coward. That is not how you prevail in protest.

  2. You tried all these “stunts” leading up to UPP’s Convention and the party still REJECTED you!!!! Step aside and allow the DULY ELECTED LEADER OF THE OPPOSITION to shine.

Stop trying to get the spotlight away from Mr. Pringle
    You really selfish and badninded

  3. Well done your Most Honourable Richard Lewis. I admire your tenacity in regards for transparency by using and pursuing Gaston Browne by the rightful Freedom of Information Act.

Prime Minister Browne may think he is above the law – but he is not!

Underlings like us – if requested by any government body – must abide by the FOIA … no ifs, no buts, or maybes.

One day, your Honourable Richard Lewis, you will lead the UPP. Guaranteed! ✊🏾

  4. I wonder if the people are aware that it’s Gaston blogging under different names cursing Richard Lewis to balkanize the UPP supporters, and build animosity towards the candidates.

  5. @V for Vendetta you really seem to have a problem with Richard Lewis. The UPP under the leadership of Richard Lewis would be a greater force to reckon with today as a Party. The UPP as a political party is operating like a JOKE. Take the picket today. It was promoted as a picket organized by concerned citizens and at the end of the day you hear their mouth piece Joan and others talking as if it was a UPP picket. What kind of joke party is that. The party should be leading from the front. It is the only Opposition Party in Antigua. I laugh at the way a party with supposedly intelligent people operate. It is LAUGHABLE.

  6. @V for Vendetta and there will never be a UPP government under the leadership of Jamale Pringle. You delusional and self-congratulatory people in the UPPER will never see that under the present leadership,
