Simon is threatening legal action against the Development Control Authority (DCA) stemming from the removal of a billboard cover at his branch office in Bolans.

The incident in question occurred on Friday when DCA members, accompanied by police, removed a canvas covering a billboard featuring a statement about Brian Stuart-Young, the embattled CEO of the Global Bank of Commerce.

Simon described the situation as “disheartening” and criticized the actions as an infringement on freedom of speech and expression.

He stated, “It’s not a way or a direction that a country that believes in democracy should be going.”

Simon highlighted the pattern of billboard removals whenever they feature content critical of certain individuals, particularly Prime Minister Gaston Browne and Brian Stewart Young.

He emphasized that the content on the billboard was factual and not defamatory, yet it faced removal shortly after being displayed.

Regarding the legal aspects, Simon asserted, “I’m going to take DCA to court for trespassing and removing property from a property they have no right to remove.”

He emphasized the importance of government bodies facing legal consequences for their actions and not acting with impunity.

The interview on the Snake Pit on Saturday also touched upon broader issues of government transparency and accountability.

Simon criticized the government’s handling of various matters, including financial institutions and corruption allegations.

He questioned the government’s silence on certain issues and expressed concerns about the independence of regulatory bodies like the DCA.

Simon reeaaffimred his commitment to challenging what he perceives as injustices and ensuring that freedom of speech is upheld in Antigua and Barbuda.

He called on others to join him in holding government institutions accountable and protecting democratic principles.

  1. Of all the issues to go after, this is your main concern in Antigua? Not water, not cost of living, not healthcare……..this??????

    • SEND TEAR-GASSING (GASTON), CUTIE AND ABLP INTO RETIREMENT. DO NOT FORGET 08/08/2021 WHEN THEY TEAR GASSED US SEND TEAR-GASSING (GASTON), CUTIE AND ABLP INTO RETIREMENT. DO NOT FORGET 08/08/2021 WHEN THEY TEAR GASSED US

      @ sTRUPTZ

You are nothing BUT AN AZZ……BIG BIG ONE AT THAT.
NO WONDER U WORK FOR THE ‘TIEF’

    • @ struptz… you are a real clown, do you know that? Why not take the time to interpret the message, or is it to hard for you comprehend? Shaking my head big time!!

    • Your are so so right.

As we discuss, debate, cuzz and fuzz over a billboard removed by the DCA Gaston and DCA are merrily smiling that they have gotten the DCA bailout lease with his son, after the real estate was practically gifted to his son

Shuggy and others are playing into Gaston’s hands with emotions about a billboard which can be duplicated in full page ads that cost less than the billboard.
Plaster it in the papers and on the internet if it is so critical.

Message to Shuggy, all of UPP; and the people of Antigua and Barbuda

The LIAT (2020) deal is the thief of the decade.
How does Antigua put the most into the deal and end up with only 30% ownership?

  2. Sometimes we Act so ignorantly stupid in this country. You don’t think democracy and the very foundation of a democracy which is freedom of speech and the curtailing of government overreach is more important that all the issues you raised? We so dam stupid that we believe that government restricting our right to speak is not important? tell that to the Russians or Koreans or Chinese. If I was as POLITICALLY stupid as you I would think that democracy is not important, thank God I am NOT. SOMETIMES WE SHOULD JUST HUSH!!! What is water and roads and Healthcare if you can’t talk in your own country. Does it matter the size of house you build if you can’t live free and comfortably in it, If the Man or woman controls what you say and what u do? Think and stop speaking out what the lord design for you to sit on… your ASS!!!

    • Dave Ray,
How about commenting on the debacle in the All Saints constituency election.
You have worked on campaigns and elections. Put in your two cents on something you claim experience.

Ask a businessman: Comment on the WIOC giveaway and the lease with DCA that made the giveaway happen.

Otherwise you make yourself look like a demagogue, no different than the people limited to a Pointe alleyway knowledge base.

    • You know the outcome even before the lawsuit is filed, even though the case has merit.
Caribbean courts as just as corrupt as the political parties.
This is not just about freedom of expression. It’s about the corruption that exits in Eastern Caribbean juris prudence where the governments owns the judges and the Director of Prosecutions.
You always stick your nose in UPP business and is silent when ABLP get their hands caught in the cookie jar like Gaston’s son being able to get a $50 million property (actually a title tranfer) while he at the trade school Monroe College in New Rochelle or the election by pool taking in All Saints.
Tell Gaston to sue me. I will not be putting up billboards.
      He wants to be famous.
I’ll make him famous in every media market on both sides of the Atlantic, and his down spin master down in DC is also in my sights.
The New York Post will be glad to carry a series of front page articles his relationship with the Guyanese family of Ron Saunders, and Brian Stuart Young and his son. As well as a Financial Regulatory Commission that worse than the days of Allen Stanford
Once the NY Post carries it their sister paper in the UK will carry it.
That’s just to soften him up before we get to the high court after we run the articles on the currupt Caribbean institutions slowly sliding towards Haiti.

  3. This is tantamount to political and Corporate overreach. Not sure that the DCA mandate covers build boards that are on private property and display information that is in no way harmful, threatening or injurious to public safety in any way shape or fashion. We are in uncharted waters and the court might have to adjudicate this one.

    • Absolutely right. It is overreach and political interference to boot. If you or I owe Courts or Fastcash, our names are published in the newspaper to embarrass us in the hopes of collecting and it is 1000% legal. This is exactly the same thing, but depending on your tax bracket different rules may apply.

    • WHat most people do not realise is that this is not just about one man and one bank. The circus this is being made out to be is damaging to the country’s financial services sector. Guess what? We all need financial services. both red and blue. This man has had his say, over and over again. The court is dealing with it. why go on and on about it in this way?

  4. Antiguans deserves all the blows they getting in their ass .ya’ll with your sheep mentality… all yall care about is fete , fete , and more fete ….not your standard of living , holding elected officials accountable nor turning out in numbers to protest and demand answers. Look at other democratic and none democratic nations around the world 🌎 how they fight for what’s right . ABLP put licks in dem ass 🤣 .wa them going do ? Just call the talk shows and vent ….The opposition speak boldly in public about everything that’s wrong in this country..and rightfully so …but when they are in parliament ( the people’s house ) 🏠 they don’t demand the answers on the record …they humble humble ..Parliament is where you take the fight …not on Facebook live nor the radio station…

    • You are absolutely @ Miron Reynolds, and we Antiguans only have to see how our strong neighbours in Barbuda stand tall and will have this ABLP government walk all over them.

But even, you must admit that the political landscape and mindset of Antiguans are changing for the better (though not quick enough for the enlightened amongst us).

This awful government scraped through at the last General Election – it won’t EVER happen again!

      NO TRANSPARENCY, NO MORE ABLP!

  5. you’re so stupid I believe u talk from your stinking , everything gaston clown and his wife do you say it’s ok and u not living in Antigua to know what people going through around here , you’re a real minion just like the rest of the cool aid drinkers, most of them that sucking up to gaston can’t afford private doctors and still they defending a system that can’t even put toilet paper in the hospital restrooms nor the clinics restrooms, the condition of the roads are so damn awful and both supporters of upp and ablp have to drive on them and the fu cking idiots still holding on to there party, bunch of idiots.

  6. If the billboard itself was illegal why was it standing there since the last election and why did they only remove the graphic?

  7. It begins with Mr. Stroll who can’t get his money out of the bank is a constituent of Shuggy.

If you go through the list of 104 questions from Stoll and his attorneys. It suggests that Brian Stuart-Young who carries a diplomatic passport may be preparing to run with his Stoll’s money.

The purpose of the bill board is to let the public know what Brian Stuart-Young looks like in case he is planning to disappear.
For many reasons not known to many, Gaston is very defensive of Brian Stuart-Young.
The chicken is coming home to rouse and Gaston is scared shit

  8. When you all see southwell in public jeer and heckle him so he become conscionable, that he shouldn’t be used by the politicians and given largesse, and our children get an education and enter these government body to work and is used to maintain gangsterism, not real professional work that can challenge them to develop themselves, and just like colonial times they are used against the black populace by the white planters, the black leaders emulate their white counterpart and do the same of using government institution to bankrupt the poor of which was clearly stated by the prime minister.

  9. I am curious to find out what blog system you happen to be working with? I’m experiencing some minor security issues with my latest website and I’d like to find something more risk-free. Do you have any recommendations?
