Source Real News Antigua- A Mount Joy man reportedly was awakened by footsteps inside his house as intruders attempted to steal items in the home after breaking into his car and taking a sum of money.

This offence reportedly occurred at about 3:09 a.m. on June 3.

The victim reportedly occupies a room on the ground floor of a two-storey house that is under construction.

Reportedly, at about 11:40 p.m. on June 2, he left his wallet and other items intact inside his car, which he secured.

He then placed the keys to the vehicle in the pocket of his black cargo pants, inside the room he occupies, and went to bed.

When he was awakened by footsteps and decided to check, the man alleges that he saw two intruders running away.

He also observed that his pants with the keys were missing and went outdoors to check further.

At this point, he noticed that his car had been moved from where it was parked and had collided with some lumber piled up on the western side of the road.

The victim claims he also saw two men dressed in dark clothing exit the car and run in a northern direction into some nearby bushes.

Upon investigation, the man discovered that his wallet – containing $300 in cash and documents – and $170 that had been stashed in the centre console had been stolen from the car.

The vehicle reportedly was ransacked, but the key was still in the ignition.

The man’s pants, meanwhile, were found in another room inside the house.

It is believed that the intruders had entered the house through a front-door space that had been left unsecured.

Officers from the Parham Police Station reportedly conducted a search of the surrounding areas for the perpetrators, but without success.

  1. This seems like younger men but to me, it is also a sign that others want in on the action (Burglary, robbery, assault, etcetera) because they see the opportunities exist (no deterrence, no chance of being apprehended, and abandoned opportunities to commit crimes). Even if each resident is given $1 million dollars, this frequency of BARRK crimes will not stop because the motivation to commit is based on the opportunities being available and not mainly or solely based on socio-economic status or employment status. There are just too many opportunities to commit crimes after being conditioned to commit crimes to not commit crimes. It now needs an advanced and innovative pragmatic approach to being proactive and eliminate opportunities.

    listen folks, listen.

We need protection for ourselves and property.
Imagine the streets have all the gun dem and we don’t have anything to defend what’s ours.
