Mother calls for justice for teen killed in traffic accident

The mother of 16-year-old Azorae Pennant’s called for justice for her son days after was killed in traffic accident in Liberta.

Police said the teenager collided with a pickup after he swerved his bicycle to avoid a crash with an SUV, which was making a right turn toward him.

The incident occurred on Tyrells Main Road around 6:25 pm last Wednesday.

“This is a life lost so I hope that some form of justice will be served,” Shauna-Lee Pennant told state media after describing her son as “loving, adventurous, fearless, and a good cook.”

The mother was reportedly overseas when she heard of her son’s death.

“I was alone, so I had to deal with it in not a very peaceful way. I was broken, felt empty, still, I still do but the strength of loved ones, I’m taking it day by day,” she said.

The All Saints Secondary School student was the eldest of his mother’s three children.

“He was the mentor for the other two, their idol so it’s hard home to cope,” she lamented.

  1. Sigh I am truly sorry for this families lost it’s never easy loosing a loved one. However I don’t see the need to call for justice in this matter it seems like a leigit accident.

    Also need to ask was his bike properly lit, bikes are required to have lights and reflective apparatus that help drivers identify them.

    We do sympathize with you and your family but it’s difficult to see how we can hold these drivers accountable for this incident.

    Please accept my sincere condolences in this difficult time.
