In an effort to further transform Her Majesty’s Prison, authorities have been working on various plans to bring some level of relief to the inmates at the correctional facility.

In this regard, the facility will now have a more reliable water supply.

Recently, the prison sourced additional water storage tanks, which have the capacity to store eight thousand gallons of water (8000).

In collaboration with the Ministry of Public Works and Fire Rescue Services water is now delivered to the prison every 48 hours consistently.

An anonymous member of the public has also pledged his assistance, to have water delivered to the prison when needed. His gesture is welcomed and commended. The Minister of National Security the Hon. Steadoy Cutie Benjamin, Permanent Secretary within the Ministry of National Security Stacey Gregg-Paige, Prison Superintendent Jermaine Anthony expresses thanks to the donor for the tangible support.

Anthony said with the water situation under control, proper sanitary conditions can be maintained. He added that this gives prison administrations room to move on to other projects earmarked for 2022.

Currently there are 235 inmates housed at Her Majesty’s prison.
