Prime Minister Gaston Browne responded to Opposition Leader Jamale Pringle’s inquiry regarding the government’s assessment of the well-being of Antigua and Barbuda’s citizens with a strong affirmation of the country’s positive trajectory.

Browne emphasized that Antigua and Barbuda is doing notably well compared to previous years, attributing this success to the resilience and efforts of its people.

Browne stated unequivocally, “The people of Antigua and Barbuda are doing significantly better than four years ago.”

He backed this assertion by referencing the United Nations’ recent Human Development Index, which ranked Antigua and Barbuda as having a high level of development, second only to St. Kitts and Nevis in the Caribbean region.

Browne highlighted this achievement as a testament to the progress and prosperity experienced by the nation.

In addressing concerns raised by the opposition regarding ongoing challenges, Browne acknowledged, “There are still pockets of people who are struggling.”

However, he stressed that these challenges are being actively addressed and do not detract from the overall positive outlook.

Browne pointed to increasing income levels, improved employment opportunities, and better living standards as indicators of the country’s success.

Rejecting any notion of a “false narrative” about Antigua and Barbuda’s performance, Browne asserted, “All indicators show that this country continues to grow.”

He urged unity and gratitude, stating, “We should be grateful for the progress we have achieved.” Browne called on all stakeholders to work together to build on these achievements and ensure continued prosperity for the nation.

The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of acknowledging and celebrating the country’s accomplishments while remaining committed to addressing ongoing challenges for the benefit of all citizens.

  1. This man truly believes that people fall for his nonsense.
I will leave it up to @Brixtonian and others to deep dive into this new set of crap.

  2. @ STRUGGLING OR STRANGLING

PM GASTON BROWN U MUST BE OUT OF YOUR COTTON PICKING MIND, IF NOT A LUNATIC.
    Only ”pockets” of people struggling?
DO U HAVE ANY IDEA HOW HARD THIS COUNTRY IS AND HOW PEOPLE CAN BARELY AFFORD A PROPER MEAL PER DAY? BECAUSE YOU AND YOUR PAID MINIONS AND ENRICHED MINISTERS NOT SUFFERING DOES NOT MEAN THAT THINGS ARE WELL.
THINGS HAVE NEVER BEEN HARDER IN ANTIGUA. AT EVERY STREET CORNER YOUNG MEN IN POINT AND VILLA BEGGING FOR A $5 !!!!!!!
    WHERE DO U LIVE PM??
U HAVE WRECKED THE ECONOMY OF ANTIGUA WITH YOUR SELFFISH LUST FOR LAND AND WEALTH AND GRABBING EVERYTHING THAT STANDS IN YOUR WAY.
PLEASE PREPARE AN AIR-CONDITION COFFIN WITH 30 ROOMS TO HOUSE YOU AND ALL YOUR WEALTH IN THE GRAVE. THEY WONT RUST NOR CANKER

    • Cotton Picking is a reference to slavery , don’t used these terms to address a black prime minister, whether you agree with his policies or not. U only enhancing the white man thoughts back then , that a black man mind is only good for picking cotton.

      • @ Jojo

GASTON HAVE US IN MENTAL AND FINANCIAL SLAVERY. HE HIMSELF SERVE THE CHINESE AND WHITE FOREIGNERS ”COLONISE US”. HE ONLY DARK SKIN, BUT HAVE WHITE MENTALITY.

  3. Well, well, well, if Gaston Browne is the answer, what the hell was the question???

    I beg you please!

His delusion and gaslighting of Antiguans has no bounds.

DARYLLLL TEK OVER NAH MAN … 😁

  4. Gaston Browne: 4 YEARS AGO,WE HAD THE PANDEMIC. IF THE ECONOMY IS DOING SO WONDERFUL AS YOU ARE SAYING.WHY ARE YOU KILLING THE PEOPLE WITH INCREASED TAXES AND OTHER INCREASED COSTS?

  5. The economy is doing good, and people are doing great, so increase gas price and taxes on their arse? If that’s not the biggest canundrum there is, well y’all tell me! What a economic dunce we have here. The object of a Government Gatson, is to leave money in people’s pockets, not to rob and loot their earnings..

It’s not rocket science dude,it’s as simple as that. And oh, where is all this looting going, that’s the big question, because we don’t see it in the roads, water, and cleanliness, and overall infrastructure of the island.

Yes people are making money from their hard work and their private business, but it’s not for you to keep taking and taking, with no damn results to show for your constant taking.

  6. PM Brown , I am sure that you know that the high paying jobs are not going to Antiguans. Let us take a look at the hotel industry. We have scores of Antiguans that studied hotel management and are not given the opportunities in our hotels.
The Royalton resort is a typical example, they bring in people from outside the region as far as Mexico to fill positions that Antiguans can. I am talking about Maintanance managers, house keeping , even HR managers.
To add to that. you have this rude , disrespectful Indian guy that pretends he knows everything and don’t know his arm from his elbow pushing around both Caribbean nationals and Antiguans.
They hire mostly Spanish( 99.9%). Pm Please take a drive into Royalton and you will see for yourself.
Heard they are the same people that owns Halcyon now. Who own halcyon cove property? I heard that a group of greedy politicians had it tired up in leases and sub-leases before your time. One is probably still in your government.
Pm one may say these investors spend a considerable amount of money. In the same vain we give away tax holidays equaling their investment , if you do a proper accounting of the tax exemptions, duty frees and tax holidays, you would be surprised. Plus our beaches, and see front are invaluable. They are even building beyond the high water mark and into our ocean. So shouldn’t our people be given equal opportunities. PM we do have Antiguans that can hold down the managers, assistant managers positions, just like you can run Antigua and your ministers run ministers.
Pm just take a drive and walk around at halcyon and you see for yourself.( Spanish town). Mexicans doing the simplest of Jobs. Where they don’t hire Mexicans they hire people from Dominican Republic. Don’t tell me that an Antiguan cleaning company cannot get a share of the pie. Don’t tell me some poor picky headed people like you cannot wipe down a few windows and make some quick bucks. Is our forefathers blood that were shed for this country. So if honey is in the rock we want our share!
Mr. PM the Antiguans , the picky headed Antiguans are not feeling this economic
Growth. Grays farm and Point picky head people that voted in the majority against your style of government are not feeling your growth. You said in a statement immediately after elections that you got the message. Well obviously you did not.
Antiguans deserves much better in this country!!!
