The Antigua Barbuda Festivals Commission announced tonight that Ashely Boodhoo is the country’s representative in the Miss Jaycees International Pageant.
The pageant will take place at Carnival City on Sunday night.
There were questions about who will represent Antigua and Barbuda after three ladies were crowned Miss Antigua Barbuda in the early hours of this morning.
Speaking on state TV tonight, Festival Commission Chairman Maurice Merchant revealed the participation of Boodhoo who was crowned Miss Antigua Barbuda Platinum.
He did not say how the commission arrived at its decision but indicated that going forward the commission will look at the criteria of various overseas pageants and determine which girl is most suitable to represent the country.
This year only seven countries will compete for the 57th annual Miss Jaycees crown.
Dominica, a favorite among pageant lovers, is not taking part because of hurricane Maria last year.
Anguilla pulled out of the pageant as its delegate prepares for the Miss Universe title as Great Britan’s representative.
