About a dozen staff protested outside the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Barbuda Affairs building on Independence Avenue yesterday, expressing frustration over long-standing poor working conditions.
The group, representing two of the building’s three floors, cited issues such as a musty odor, disorganized storage, ceiling holes, and, notably, bathroom problems, including a lack of water supply and unsanitary conditions.
Staff requested permission to use alternative bathrooms in the building but were denied. Additionally, the registry department faced safety concerns due to electrical cords scattered throughout the area.
Despite a previous warning from the fire department about these hazards, the issues remain unaddressed.
The ministry’s permanent secretary declined to comment.

That place is not fit for animals never mind humans.Based on many pictures I have seen on line. It is as filthy or filthier than 1735.
But jail 50 times worst then that and no body doing nothing about it dem nah k
WOULD GASTON BROWNE LIKE IF HIS OFFICE WERE LOOKING LIKE THAT.
YOU PEOPLE JUST VOTED 10 MONTHS AGO AND I AM SURE YOUR OFFICE WERE LOOKING THAT SAME WAY WHEN YOU WERE VOTING, IT WAS NOT A PROBLEM THEN BUT IT IS A PROBLEM NOW.
WHAT YOU VOTE FOR IS WHAT YOU GET, SO SEE YOU IN 5 YEARS WHEN WE WILL FOOL YOU AGAIN.
Does it look like Gaston cares about Antigua, the man tired boast and show us all of his childhood dreams that he is now achieving
As if a young man that was bullied giving revenge now
He no k
But as soon as Teachers complain about anything we lazy. “Are we work under them conditions too”
Not Only is that building filthy the other out stations are worst!!! How does the government expect workers to produce work in those deplorable conditions? This is nonsense!!
Now compare this ugly building – which seems fit for demolition – to the pristine government premises where the ABLP cabinet members work.
Chalk and cheese.
In fact, our police stations and the facilities at our hospital leaves a lot to be desired; and don’t get me started on equipment and uniforms. Tarl!!!
How on earth has Gaston Browne allowed these buildings to deteriorate so badly?
HE JUST DOESN’T CARE. PERIOD!
Hopefully, as he has just INFORMED the country that we are now an economic powerhouse, the Prime Minister will address this.
AGAIN, IF HE’S TELLING ANTIGUANS THE TRUTH 🤔
Could it be that it’s deliberate and his intention is to relocate some of these establishments to Friars Hill?
All government workers, that that have issues that are not addressed need to strike together this one body at a time is taking too long for issues to be addressed
Cool, I’ve been looking for this one for a long time
This is one topic I just hate to be correct on, it just bother me to even say it because it’s so damn sad. I said it over and over again on this very forum.
” Antigua ain’t going anywhere under this current administration, nowhere”
