Carnival Minister Daryll Matthew has addressed a circulating video depicting a sex act in Antigua, clarifying that the incident did not occur during an official Carnival event.

Speaking earlier today, Minister Matthew stated, “The video in question was recorded at a private event, held in a private residence or establishment. It was definitely not associated with any street Carnival activity.”

He emphasized that the Antigua Festivals Commission, which organizes official Carnival events, had no involvement in the incident.

“I can confirm that at least one person in the video was wearing a Carnival costume. However, I have been reliably informed that the act took place at a private gathering, not during any sanctioned Carnival event.”

The Minister also mentioned that existing legislation addresses such activities.

“There are laws in place to deal with this type of behavior,” he said, highlighting that enforcement is crucial irrespective of the setting.

The Minister’s response comes amid public speculation and concern over the video’s association with Antigua’s renowned Carnival celebrations.

  1. it don’t matter where it happened all these half naked people were waking around town infront of our children.. so no examples are being set, no culture, just nasty promiscuous behavior like whores .

  2. All the half naked girls acting like whores and the adults are setting no examples for the younger ones…..bending over backwards with your privates exposed…some of these young ladies are easily influenced, can’t think for themselves and have lost their way, most not even 25..Why is it so hard for people more so women to respect themselves? its sickening, damn shameful and upsetting to say the least🙄

  3. First of this has been going on for years now the culture has been astray a long time ago so that’s nothing new to be complaining about if you know they walking butt naked why bring ya kids to see grown ppl party????? Keep them home its simple that has nothing to do with what took place because naked or not ppl a sex when and when they want 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

  4. @Seriously yep bring on the live Orgy fest. Just don’t stop at the dry fucking and sucking. Now let’s just promote this as Antigua’s Emancipation Celebration. Next years theme Jus Fuck! Fuck How U Lub Um.

  5. Carnival was once a family celebration. We all looked forward to going into town to see the parade.
Now it’s a dangerous, violent, dirty disgusting celebration that I would never invite anyone to come on down to Antigua carnival. What an embarrassment. Our country has gone to POT…
It makes me sick to think of how it use to be and what it is today.
SAVE YOUR REMARKS ABOUT MY POST. IF YOU DON’T AGREE YOU’RE ONE OF THOSE DISGUSTING HUMANS STINKING UP OUR BEAUTIFUL ISLAND.

  6. funny things is with most of these women is if someone was to accidentally walk in on them naked they run and go hide 🤣😂 dumb generation women

  7. I think carnival dancing about freedom from slavery. The government seems to forget what’s the meaning of carnival. Now it’s jus a band of naked women and nastiness on our streets in carnival bands . We can’t even take our children out there during the two days of carnival. It’s such shame n disgrace . Carnival should be all about taking to the streets dancing and having fun but no it’s all about nastiness. Pure evil . So y can’t you minister of culture fix this and make our carnival respectful so that our innocent little boys n girls will not have to see this, kind of whoreness and nasty behavior from these men n women .

…but, it doesn’t matter how much we cuss
…this celebration has being under, the auspices, of Bacchus!

  9. Why don’t y’all take your damn kids to one of our 365 beaches since you are so concerned about what they will see at Carnival?
Some of you talking about the women don’t live better lives. You have children here, there and everywhere, you’re broke rundown and tired and hating on people.
I saw well- educated women, who have their lives, money and careers together and live better than more than half of Antigua playing mas so ease up with your judgments.

  10. the men wear dem “hoochie shorts” too. don’t balme the women alone.

  11. Why out kids not allowed to enjoy carnival? So many sour fake butts exposed. No creativity whatsoever.

  12. Someone with both money and morals should start some alternatives for or to carnival. E.g. 1) Start a recording studio, label, competitions etc. for artists with good lyrics. Song lyrics used to be subtle and creative. Now many are explicit and disgusting. Support the artists with good lyrics. 2) Start some fetes/parties with classy cultural dresscodes for those who want to have fun in a decent way. Have fashion show/competitions to design classy affordable islandwear. Open a store selling such. 3) Have a cultural showcase with standards/rules of behaviour in a different part of the island for those who want to celebrate emancipation differently. Make it family friendly so kids can participate.
Unity is important but persons have to draw a line somewhere. No one is obligated to participate in vulgar or dangerous activities just because they are official activities. If decent people start something elsewhere perhaps it will grow and eventually take over the festivities and return them to a higher standard. If not, then at least people who don’t like the official activities will have something else to do on those days.

  13. Since there is a growing divide on morality, perhaps it’s time to end carnival as a one size fits all event. Instead emancipation can be celebrated by having different types of events at different locations around the island.
Those who want wild parties can have their wild parties while those who want more decent cultural events can have their events at other locations. I would prefer if the entire country was a bit more decent, but everyone is on their own journey and will figure out what’s best in their own time. We don’t all have to do the same thing.
