The Police and Customs have seized over one million dollars’ worth of drugs, during an operation at the V.C. Bird International Airport on Wednesday 11th August.

Both law enforcement agencies were conducting a routine inspection at Liat Cargo when a total of ninety-one pounds of Cannabis was discovered inside two containers.

The illegal substance, which carries a street value of EC $1,365,000.00, was taken to Police Headquarters, where further investigations are ongoing.

This is one of several large seizures made at both main ports of entry in recent times.

  1. Unless they have held the consignee this should have been kept quiet. Now the importer would be made aware and could try to evade capture.
Or is this a case of holding some to let a larger shipment through. My mind bends corners like that sometimes. Just saying.

  2. Hope this time they arrest the culprits. Too many times we hear of these large drug bust and never hear of anyone arrested. I wonder why? They would certainly have been shipped to somebody.

  3. MOST OF THE DRUGS COMING INTO ANTIGUA BY PORT (wharf) AIRPORT ( coolidge) are done with IMMIGRATION OFFICERS…THEY ARE INVOLVED NO SPECULATION PURE FACTS. …..IMMIGRATION OFFICERS ARE THE BIGGEST DRUG ENABLERS ….some have NO OPTION but to turn a blindeye or face being fired or killed….

Im sure they werent paid so SENDER has to take a lost those who paid their BIGGER ship ent is overlooked and NEVER mention.

    • You sound like an ass! Unless the drugs are brought in inside the passport, Immigration DO NOT HANDLE BAGGAGE.

  4. “Street Value” of $1365000 is $15000 per pound!!! What kind of magical drugs are these?? Must be some really good stuff
