Michael Joseph Named as New Senator, Will Support Initiatives for Former Gang Members

Prime Minister Gaston Browne has confirmed Michael Joseph as the new senator in Antigua and Barbuda.

The announcement came as Browne discussed government-backed programs focused on helping former gang members find sustainable employment.

He detailed plans to provide resources, including a container of food and 2,000 chicks, to support poultry farming initiatives for individuals exiting gang-related activities.

Browne said “Senator-in-Waiting” Joseph is currently establishing a two-acre facility in Cooks designated for housing layer chickens and crop production.

Once the facility is complete, resources will be transferred to support both poultry farming and cash crop cultivation, offering economic opportunities and supporting local food production.

This initiative marks a significant step in Browne’s commitment to creating productive outlets for former gang members, with Joseph set to play a key role in these efforts.

Joseph is the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party candidate in the St. John’s Rural West Constituency in the next general election.
