Michael Joseph has resigned as solid waste chairman

Senator Michael Joseph has resigned as Chairman of the National Solid Waste Management Authority, Prime Minister Gaston Browne has confirmed.

Joseph was sworn in as Minister of State in the Ministry of Health last week. Solid Waste falls under the Ministry of Health.

There had been concerns that Joseph held both positions as a conflict of interest.

Browne confirmed on Pointe FM that Joseph resigned prior to assuming his new position.

He told listeners that it was the opposition United Progressive Party that was responsible for spreading rumors that Joseph was holding two positions.

A new chairman for solid waste has not yet been named.

  3. Absolutely, Joseph was hoping to keep both positions, but UPP recognised the incoming conflict of interest and let it be known that this would be seen as an undue influence.

    This is why we need a STRONG opposition party.
