The Dominican Republic community living in Antigua has issued a strong statement denouncing individuals accused of committing crimes that tarnish the country’s reputation.
In a message circulated on Thursday, the group called for unity and vigilance in protecting Antigua’s standing as a place of “good and hardworking people”.
“Dominicans who don’t think about our community and our old and bearded island before committing their crimes… don’t count on us,” the statement read. “We have to take care of this country that gives us the opportunity to live better.”

The group said it would not accept anyone, “coming from wherever he comes”, damaging Antigua’s image. It also urged swift justice, calling for offenders to be returned to their home country if found guilty.
Members of the Dominican Republic community stressed the importance of safeguarding opportunities for residents and preserving the positive reputation of their adopted home.

It is not completely the foreign nationals fault. This administration cannot depend on Antiguans to win elections so they allow the foreigners to do and behave however they want, it has now gotten out of control. Let’s see if Gsston and Cutie Benjamin have the balls to properly deal with it
I wish some of you illiterate people would get a passport and travel to the DR and see then you would bite your tongues. Go to DR and then talk I have been .
@ Antiguan
Well, I AM an Antuguan and I have been to the DR, and yes, like any other country in the world, the DR, too, has its share of slums and run-down areas, crime, violence, etc. Antigua has no reason whatsoever to feel second-best to the DR. THE question is, though, why is there such a daily mass exodus of these “better-off” people to the tiny islands of the Eastern Caribbean?????
Me always say the same thing. We are 108 square miles and them others countries who a create the most problem come from thousands of square miles. Thousands and a kill themselves to stay on 108sqm. Them no better off. People no move from good to worst..never happen and even if the did they would go back to good.
