He singled out Anya DeGannes for special praise, highlighting her multiple gold medal performances and record-breaking swims at the age-group level. Matthew also recognized Madison MacMillan and Ellie Shaw, who secured gold and silver medals while delivering standout performances in their respective events.

Additional commendations were extended to Jamie Tranter and Alessandro Bazzoni for their podium finishes and record-setting swims. Matthew also acknowledged the efforts of Kaylee Warner, Alyssa Watkins, Christopher Walter, and Selah Wiltshire, noting their determination and contribution to the team’s overall success.
The minister said the achievements were not limited to medals, pointing to a number of national and age-group records, as well as several personal best performances recorded during the championships.
He also credited the coaching staff for their role in the team’s success, citing their preparation and commitment as key factors in the athletes’ development and results.
Matthew said the overall performance reflects the steady progress of swimming in Antigua and Barbuda and signals continued promise within the country’s young athletes.

Congratulations goes out to our aquatic team, a team of youths that continues to show their aquatic skills at every aquatic meet they compete in, winning medals after medals. I know it’s a long way to go, when you’re trying to become a Michael Phelps, but keep pushing and never you dare think of giving up.
To the Fentons, I know we Antiguans tend to rely on the government for everything, and in this case as your daughter continue to represent this country at a level never seen before, never should they be a let down by this government.
I do though appeal, to not only Tyra’s parents, but the entire Fenton family. Don’t know how deep your pockets are, or how comfortable you’re living, but you do have something uniquely special, so please invest heavily. This could have easily been three gold, since she was the defending 400m champion, and can you imagine what that would’ve looked lik? Every top class college in the USA will be on the recruitment drive, so look out, do your research on the track and field program, and choose wisely.
Mr. Matthew what has become to the long promised Olympic size swimming pool. The children need proper facilities in order to improve their times. There is only ONE POOL to use for all the swimmers. Athletic Club has closed their pool for use by the clubs.
Keep your word Mr. Matthew and build that pool.
