Rashawn ‘Turtle’ Shabazz has been released from the Sir Lester Bird Medical Center after spending 17 days there.
He was shot by the police on August 31, resulting in the loss of one of his kidneys. Shabazz had been released from His Majesty’s Prison just three days before the incident.
Eyewitnesses reported that Shabazz was causing a disturbance near the Perry Bay Supermarket, throwing stones at bystanders and brandishing a long knife.
Police shot him to subdue him. He has now been admitted to the Clarevue Psychiatric Hospital for treatment due to his schizoaffective disorder.
