       • Please don’t link me to Gaston, when upp was in power and alp was politicizing the issue of criminals because of upp I strongly apposed that story, we all live here in Antigua and what we should do is to speak out about the crimes and not political parties, one person commented about only certain individuals are allowed to have fire arms and they are correct, so much serians have guns and we all know about their history with guns, whites have guns and the upstanding Antiguan citizens can’t get access to a fire arm license and this goes for the two party, the parties in Antigua depends on us black people to put them in power but once they get in we the black people of this country are put behind the serians, whites and Chinese and we all accept it because we support our party. When will our people stand up for Antigua and not political party. Lord help us all

     • Because @ Me Lub, Gaston Browne is the Prime Minister of the country, and when we are experiencing a rise in criminal activities, then he must lead by example and take action.

       Sweden’s 🇸🇪 Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson in recent times noticed a rise in crimes, and dealt with it by increased policing, and putting the army on standby.

       Gaston Browne is NO leader in dealing with crime here; only in self-enrichment monetary schemes for those in his clique – that’s all he good for!

8. The reason why crime is on the high in Antigua is because before we call a spade a spade we wrapped politics in everything. If they see Law enforcement officers doing their duty everybody take up there phone and start to video what is happening but when they see crime committing none of them video the crime. A lot of people in this country support crime. It’s everybody business to report them mask men. People know them.

   • The government can decrease criminal activity by passing stronger laws in parliament. I thing they should use the muslim Sharia Laws as their guidance. There are too many criminals among us.

9. We really need to do something about this; cameras strategically located for starts. Next – if not in place all taxes should be removed from security equipment from the biggest to the smallest items. When I say all I mean all – One should walk out of customs without paying a cent for security items. License Guns as well.
   Then when anyone is caught committing these crimes the fines should be very high and Jail time maximum.
   We need to eliminate these violent crimes out of our society immediately. The police need to be proactive instead of being reactive.
   Instead of bringing in all these artists for one nation concert. Spend that money on lights/ street lights, community lights.
   Finally a more holistic approach- pay more emphasis educating our young men, not just academic education but skills. Machine operators are scarce, heavy duty drivers, wielding, mechanics, machinist etc. These are very high paying Jobs.
   Long term every male under 21 from here on Must do two years military training. The skills can be attached to that.
   Any serious government will will get going on these issues, immediately.

10. If the government change the same thing will continue to happen if we don’t get a grip on it. Let’s be our brothers keeper and report crime to somebody who will get it to the right channel. Stop being lenient to teenagers who commit crime. A fine for fire arm and ammunition should not be less than $80,000.00 or 7 years in prison whether it be adults or teenagers. Government need to scrap the Juvenile Act. It make no sense. If you commit the crime you must serve the time

11. While it is impossible to be completely crime proof, it is important for every householder, every business to be vigilant at this time. This is traditionally the time of the year when thieves come our in their numbers to do their dirty work. They are watching and seeking for every opportunity to rob and steal from unsuspecting persons and they might take your life in so doing. Let us not politicize the whole issue of crime. It affects all of us regardless of our party affiliation. We really need to be on our guards and be really careful at this yuletide season

14. Out of Chaos, comes Order. It’s the mantra, of the system of governance; as in, the same policy makers who create policies which feed and support criminals are the same ones, #WHO’RE expected, to create policies to mitigate crimes and criminality.
    Crime and criminality is a business which runs from the rich and wealthy, to the poor and hungry belly.
    If crimes are brought under control, those charged with managing crimes and criminality will be out of work, they cannot get funding which will be mismanaged, there won’t be business for the legal fraternity etc.
    Curtailing crimes is not done by reactionary methods. You have to take precise and decisive actions, as community’s.
    Form your own C.O.P. – Citizens On Patrol Groups.
    Do your own Community patrols. Use the available technology’s cameras etc, to record activities.
    While proactive measures are being taken to some degree, it’s not widespread enough. An example is Rural North vs Rural West. While Rural West is putting in place, several groups to be the C.O.P. – Citizens On Patrol to manage their community, Rural North has being putting these groups in place for at least a decade, so, STREET CRIMES are not as prevalent, in Rural North. In the other hand, Rural North can have a larger percentage, of White Collar/QWERTY board criminals; which, by the way contributes to the criminal activities too.

    While gun crimes are horrific and traumatic, other crimes in the crime equation such a forgeries, embezzlement, wire fraud, insider trading, bank fraud, while they may not be as horrific or dramatic, they take a toll on communities as well.
    Whether we want to accept it, or not, these STREET THUGS are the low hanging fruits, on/in The #CRIME_PYRAMID MONEY MAKING SCHEME.

    I’m wondering, if Asot and Gaston will include, the early days, of RED_SHUT in their legacy.

    Rural West and #GREEN_HOUSE have a marriage, that no matter how tumultuous it gets, they’re not gonna divorce each other. I wonder will any mention be made of this marriage in Baldwin Spencer’s memoirs.

    The police do not have the training or knowledge or the tools to fight crime.

    Crime in Antigua is rampant everywhere.

    Crime is also a result of education, social, political, cultural and religious failures.
    The educational institutions are failing in offering personal responsibility and civic pride.
    The social system offers no support for those who have taken a bad turn.
    The political class and Nepo Babies thrives on corruption.
    You are losing your middle class at an alarming rate.
    The poor is growing in the population

    The culture that’s pushed is to have and display the trinkets of corruption.
    Party feting and showing off one’s glitter is what the masses lives for.

    The religious institutions and ecumenicals turns blind eye.

17. Question, where all these punks getting guns from? Someone has to be selling. Police always find weed coming in the country, but never heard of guns and bullets. Maybe customs should start checking the back of the containers.
