REAL NEWS: An incident in which a woman was attacked and beaten severely by an unknown man is being investigated by the Police.

The offence of grievous bodily harm was reported to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) by an anonymous caller.

Reports say the woman was walking on Market Street, in the vicinity of the George Hourani Store, at about 7 a.m. on May 23, when she was attacked from behind.

It is alleged that a man kicked her to the ground; and, while she was lying there, he continued to kick and stomp her about the body.

As a result, she was wounded above the left eye and was later transported to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre by the Emergency Medical Service.

Doctors there determined that the victim had sustained a fractured nose.

She was treated, discharged and referred to an ear, nose and throat specialist at the Villa Polyclinic.

The perpetrator is said to have been wearing a long-sleeved pink shirt, long black pants, and a pair of black water boots, and sported dreadlocks.

The Police carried out an initial search for the suspect, but without success.

  1. Market Street should be lined with surveillance cameras because it is a well-traveled area and a commercial center.

    • What a disgrace, Market treet is one of the busiest streents in Saint John’s and you mean no camera caught this. This is a great shame for a tourist island, shame shame shame.

  2. With the number of people who travel with cellphones nobody who witnessed this thought to take a picture for identification purposes?
Did the victim declare that she did not know who attacked her? I know he came from behind but did she not at any time during this brutal assault get even a glimpse of her attacker?
This amount of viciousness belies something personal. Or could it be a case of mistaken identity or he just crazy?
I feel really bad for the lady and I hope and pray that the police get some information soon that leads to the capture of that menace, that criminal. People, I implore you, if you saw or know anything, no matter how trivial you might think it is, please say something. We all need to be our brother’s/sister’s keeper.

  3. I’m baffled as to what seems to be taking place on a daily basis in Antigua. Where is this anger and wanton violence coming from?

Sadly, I now have to accompany my partner when ever she goes out. Why? … again, I’m baffled!

  4. Wow Brixtonian makes a post without mentioning ABLP. He finally get lickle wife or wha ?

    • Are you ok in the head @ Chew backa?

This thread is addressing a violent incident on a female.

BTW, I also enjoy addressing other matters like education; encouraging Antiguans in business; most health issues regarding Covid-19; and especially better correspondence on ANR threads.

Thanks for your interest in Brixtonian, but stay on topic … if you can.
