Pretending to shop for an engagement ring, he discreetly pocketed the stolen white-gold Crown of Light ring while a sales representative showcased options.

The missing ring was noticed during inventory, leading to a manager reviewing security footage.

A search warrant at George’s residence uncovered the stolen ring in a jewelry box in his car.

He confessed in court, facing a choice between a US$3,000 fine or two months’ imprisonment, with the stolen ring to be returned.
