ANTIGUA OBSERVER- A man who the police charged almost five years ago with possession of over half a million dollars’ worth of cannabis has been found guilty of drug trafficking.
Darien Anderson Isaac was convicted on Friday following a judge-only trial presided over by Justice Ann-Marie Smith.
He was arrested and charged in June 2020 after law enforcement officers discovered over 40 pounds of cannabis at the Deep Water Harbour.
The police had charged Isaac, who was 37-years-old at the time, with possession of cannabis, possession with intent to transfer, being concerned in the supply of cannabis, importation of the illegal drugs, and drug trafficking.
The contraband, with an estimated street value of EC$536,500, was seized at the cargo port in a counter-narcotics crackdown by officers attached to the Narcotics and K-9 Departments and Customs.
The cannabis was hidden inside a shipment of household appliances coming from Canada.
His sentencing hearing has been set for July 3.

I hope they can account for the entire amount of weed at this trial. One pound less and he is a free man!!!
Hope he get what he deserve—too much drugs mashin’ up the youth these days.
So he convicted now, but mi waan know who else involved. He couldn’t act alone!
They always catch the small fish. What happen to the kingpin dem?
Half a million in drugs? That no small thing. Sentence should reflect the damage done.
Mi tired see drug men get a slap on the wrist. Set an example this time!
the real question is: who letting them in through port?
Dey need to follow the trail and dismantle the whole network.
One case down, hundreds more out there. Dey need better detection at customs too.
Wait a second here .. this man was convicted of 40 pounds of cannabis worth over 500,000 plus and the last big drug bust was 62 pounds and worth 300,000 plus… something smells fishy …
Where is the photo of the convict?
