Man Allegedly Lured Another Man to Beach With Promise of Sex, Then Tried to Kill Him; Trial Set After Five-Year Wait

A man accused of luring another man to a beach for a supposed sexual encounter, only to allegedly attack and attempt to kill him, is finally set to stand trial more than five years after the 2020 incident.

The defendant, then 19, reportedly befriended the 29-year-old complainant on social media in 2019 and allegedly sought a $100 loan, promising to repay it with sexual favors.

On January 6, 2020, the two met at Dove Trail Beach, where the defendant, allegedly armed with a knife, attacked the complainant, cutting his throat and stabbing him multiple times. The complainant managed to wrestle away the knife and drive himself to the hospital.

Charged with wounding and attempted murder, the defendant, who denies the allegations, will face trial on February 3, 2025, following a delay requested by his lawyer, Michael Archibald.
