Man, 45, dies after COVID-19 infection

Statement on behalf of Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre (SLBMC).

 

Dr. Albert Duncan, SLBMC Medical Director said:

 

We can confirm that sadly, a male patient, age 45, who had underlying health conditions, has passed away at Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre on September 19 at 5:30pm. He had tested positive for COVID-19.

 

“Our thoughts and condolences remain with the patient’s family and loved ones at this difficult time.”

 

Important safety measures that have been scientifically-proven to reduce the spread of COVID-19, includes:

 

Wearing a mask

 

Practicing social distancing

Avoiding large gatherings

 

SLBMC encourages all eligible residents to get the COVID-19 vaccine and encourage eligible family members and friends to join them in getting the vaccine.

 

The media are asked to respect the wishes of the family, and the interests of staff at the hospital to avoid any disruption to operational services.

  1. Taking out covid with everyone having under lying conditions paint a dire picture as to the health of Antiguans so far!!!!

    Did the unfortunate gentleman die of covid
    OR of the ailment he went to hospital for treatment?
    Did covid hasten his death?
    Most people admitted to MSJMC appear to test positive in the A&E area, before entering the building.

    The public would like statistics on heart attack, stroke, diabetic, hypertensive & cancer deaths for January to June 2021, that we may compare them to the reported ‘covid deaths’ –
    OR are they one and the same?

    Mask up, distance, sanitize, exercise, eat healthy & drink at least 1.5L water every day.
