*Tesfa Luke Fined 30K For Possession of Cannabis

Tesfa Luke of Swetes is fined $30,000 for Possession of Cannabis in the Magistrate’s Court on Friday.

The accused was charged and taken before the court for unlawful possession, after officers attached to the Criminal Investigations Department Task Force found him with the substance on Tuesday. The fine is to be paid in 18 days; failure to do so, he will serve 2 years at His Majesty’s Prison.

  1. Since this government decriminalized cannabis and issued licenses to the Rasta community in particular, cannabis is more available for smoking than bread butter and cheese. Ras freeman and the other one opposite the police station on Peres Road pay their workers with cannabis, who in turn goes into the village and distribute. Marijuana is available to our school children easier than we got slice up sugar cake in my day going to school. Today we have more zombies walking around, lost, brain damaged young people.
    Young men and ever increasing numbers of young women drive pass with their spliffs in their mouths.
    I can boldly say that more than 90% of the marijuana grown legally in Antigua by licensed growers are sold illegally for smoking.
