Where are the numbers to support an economic recovery of an astounding 25% after a contraction of 20% in that period of time. That is an exponential growth of developed country much less a developing one that can’t supply water 24/7. Sounds like some R. Allen fund performance. It is unfortunate that Mr. Browne, the minister of finance cannot do basic arithmetic. He quoted that figure multiple times as if to convince the public that his creative counting was correct and be swallowed and believed by the masses.

@Economist. It is so unfortunate that the same Harold Lovell who tanked the economy by 25% is now coming back trying to convince us that he is good for the country.
The people will NOT lose the care of their brains and elect him EVER AGAIN!!!!
Permit me to use the official statistics available on eccb’s website to add some fact to my point. From 2004 to 2007 the economy of Antigua and Barbuday grew by 34.27% and was one of the fastest growing countries in the world. Then we had the global financial crisis which saw the collapse of several ecomomies. However despite this Antigua only saw an economic decline of -21.77% between 2008 to 2011. The current administration between 2014 and 2019 saw a growth of 28.01%. This growth over a 5 year period was 6.26% less than what the UPP did over three years. Further, Antigua and Barbuda saw an economic decline of -20.19% in 2020. Though is 1.58% less than the decline under the UPP, the overall stats show that UPP had a better track record. Not only that, but the country prior to 2014 was on track to become a rich country. The same cannot be said now. So whether we like it or not Antigua was in a much better position economically under UPP versus the current administration.
“The man is an abject failure. electing this man to control our economy and food supply is scary. Antiguans please don’t forget this man sold Antigua to the IMF and left us with 98k in our Treasury. We should never ever consider the UPP as a viable option if Harold is head of any party in any capacity.”
If you compare the UPP’s borrowing to that of the current administration then you would clearly see that the UPP borrowed a lot less and got way more favourable rates than this current administration. That is a sign that UPP had policies in place for economic sustainability which lenders saw. The same cannot be said for the current administration, borrowing in excess of 200 million at morgage rates due to their lack of sound economic policies. The burden of repayment of this massive loan will rest a the feet of our children and is sure to greatly reduce economic performance in years to come. Sound economic policies always trumps get rich quick schemes.

Are you and SMH the ones sent forth to try to destroy Harold Lovell in this blog? If so, I don’t know what you are being paid, but it can’t be much because your output is piss poor. You are both, BORING, REPETITIOUS, STALE and LACKING IN IMAGINATION. Your pal SMH needs to see a shrink post haste.
The one who sent you forth should demand his money back. ANR should check you both to ensure you are not a robot blog.
My only criticism of UPP’s handling of the economy was that they tried to pay the countries debit down too fast. I’m going to give UPP another shot at running the country by giving them my vote.
The ABLP needs to be PUNISHED for what they did to us during the fake pandemic. Let them cool their heads awhile and let them think about what they did to the citizen’s of Antigua.
